Who is Evan Mack? Evan created a video short showcasing his talents, and submitted it into the NBA’s Go Pro Challenge. Out of thousands of participants, he was chosen along with 29 others to get a chance to compete against and gain recognition within the NBDL and league scouts.

Now, why are we posting it here? We’re hoping that Mack can make his way into the D-League and eventually into the NBA. His athleticism, work ethic and dedication to hoops will be a great contribution to basketball and to the many levels surrounding the league.

LD2k recently cut a brand new promo for Mack and it showcases multiple highlights from his journey overseas in Germany, the SPL and the NBDL games. Just from the video, I can say I believe in him to get into the D-League and improve his game. So with that introduction, just watch the tape. LD2k + Mack = must see. Check out the tape below, let’s support this guy and we’ll keep you updated on Mack’s journey here at Lakers Nation!

I’m not impressed. He can dunk, but other than that, the video’s not showing me much. Besides, it looks like he’s playing against people you find at a local gym league. I’d be hardpressed to believe these clips are played against “Germany, SPL, and NBDL” players, like you mentioned. Good luck to him, though.

^^ I guess the audience members, refs, and german players are there just for the milk and cookies. Dude, trust me… His the real deal.

There are audience members and refs at local leagues too. Look, I’m not calling you a liar. I’m just saying the level of competition he’s playing against doesn’t seem to be that high. But I’ll take your word for it, since its hard to tell from that short clip.

he looks decent but only decent

… I’m sorry if this isn’t the right place to post.

I haven’t read any news about Mitch Cupcake lately. I’ve been going on this site every 3/4 hours everyday (except while I sleep) with hope that there’s a big move or a rumor coming about. Some reporter needs to interview this guy and not Kobe and ask him what’s going on. I’m just concerned because the guy said at the exit interview that they need to make big moves to improve the team. So far it hasn’t happened.

About 3 weeks into the pre-season, and the Lakers only sign D. Fish basically and Chris Mihm this makes the Lakers just “a little bit” of a better team. I thought we were planning to move on the the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Compilation of videos really doesnt suggest anything other than your run of the mill Rucker Park/Venice Beach B-ball player. He can dunk – his dribbling was unimpressive, his quickness off the dribble was unimpressive, very few outside shots to evaluate his shot (but, his form is not clean – which may mean nothing – Reggie Miller, Shawn Marion)

Honsetly no offense to the makers of this website But what the heck does this Evans video have to do with the Lakers? How about the news of the Lakers signing Elton Brown yesterday? http://www.nba.com/lakers/news/070917_lakers_sign_elton_brown.html
His numbers are pretty Impressive. I dont see where you included Evans overall numbers anywhere why is that? Why should we care about someone we have never heard of and probably wont even play in the NBA? I know lakers news has been slow but come on guys!
(opps sorry i just noticed you did show the brown signing. How did this become second to the Evans video?)

  • The Nugget

His a great personal friend of theLakersNation.com staff. We wanted to give him some sort of recognition… No worries, man. We always TRY to have the latest Lakers news on the blog as soon as it hits the news feeds. :)

IS THIS EVAN MACK GUY GONNA BE A LAKER???IF NOT, THEN WHY BRING HIM HERE TO LAKERSNATION????

  • lonestar848

I completely agree with you guys…why put him on here when he’s not even in the NBA, or close to being a Laker. He can dunk, whoopdeedoo. If you want to entertain us b/c there’s no Laker news post some good dunks.

  • Faith

I don’t know why, but when someone says nobody to D-League, I think, hey he’ll be in a laker uniform next.

    Gnats!

    I agree.
The one thing I do want to point out is at one point in the video, 1 minute mark or so, he couldnt even get past that one white guy. His dribbling skills were sub par and he lacks speed and quickness. The only positive thing I see in this video is his athletic ability and his defensive blocks, but then again they were clearly against guys who were atleast a foot shorter than him, so thats not saying much. Im sure if he has the work ethic to become better, he’ll have his shot at the NBDL or even the NBA, because he does seem physically capable.

If I wanted somebody to notice me by a video, I would show lots of defensive stuff. The quickest way to a coaches heart is by playing great consistent D.
Sorry to say, a lot of guys can dunk, but few have devoted themselves to playing solid defense. Seeing quick feet, balance and recovery, coupled with a little nastiness can get the scouts watching you a little more closely.
