Well in a slow news cycle in regards to KG, here comes an article about how crazy draft night was.

Talking Points Blog: I guess Ol’ KG didn’t have much to say or didn’t show up at Mike Bibby’s Fantasy Camp yesterday in Rocklin, though I wouldn’t know because I remained tethered within a 20-mile radius of All Things Left Fielder.

So I’ll add something fairly solid, to my (as you’ve all noticed) admittedly endless amount of Kevin Garnett-Warriors morsels, which began two years ago and for which I can see to realistic end in sight.

As a large, neon-lit add-on to my previous KG Draft Night Legend, I can now add this thoroughly and definitively sourced item:

* On draft day, three teams were given permission by Minnesota and indeed did pursue various stages of contract-extension talks with Garnett’s agent as a potential precursor to a trade.

It concerns us ’cause these three teams can still be talking about going after Garnett.

    OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The stories paint a picture of what a clueless ass@#@ McHale is. Also, shows that Minnesota is serious about dealing KG or it would not have wasted their time.

I cannot believe that Kupchak was not involved in a deal night effort to get KG. WTF was he doing??

  • dub-quad

YEAH, ONLY THING THAT STANDS OUT IS THAT THE LAKERS WEREN’T TALKING TO KG’S AGENT…SO WTF WERE THEY DOIN ON DRAFT NIGHT?…BUT JAVARIS WAS A GOOD PICK NO DOUBT

  • lake

Yall are slow, KG is in Boston, Thank you very much!

  • dlakerfanforlife

Mitch WTF were you doing on draft night?

  • KBisDarthVader

we already had those discussions with kg people…before draft night.

  • Laker

NUGGET, IF THE T-WOLVES DO WANT TO TRADE K.G. ALL WE HAVE TO WORRY IS G.S. DALLAS AND PHX ARENT IN THE MIX ANYMORE, SO LIKE I SAID B4 THIS POST IS POINTLESS

  • lakerfan81

The lakers were not talking to KGs agent about a contract extension on draft night because Minnesota was not interested in making a trade to the Lakers so they would no allow it.

    (Bynum/Brown/Radmovic/Farmer) or(Bynum/Cook/Radmovic/Farmer)

for (JO/Granger) would be fine with me!!!!!!

    Who cares about KG.

  • punkjones

The good thing about this post is it’s just more fodder for KG to think about the fact that he was ACTUALLY very much ON THE BLOCK. You like that KG? You give these guys all your loyalty, take a pay cut and they repay you by putting you ON THE BLOCK behind your back. Not to mention not resigning your friends who helped you get to the WCF (when you took a pay cut to keep them there), firing your favorite coach, and not doing anything the last few years to improve the team around you.

KG where are you, man? You’re in LA now and there’s no reason to ever go back. Make these knuckleheads in Minny go through with what they’ve been talking about all summer. They started it. Make them finish it.

    Ah, the myopia continues……

KG isn’t going to come to the Lakers unless they can find a sucker for a third team….a third team that is really dumb. Odom and Bynum aren’t enough to get Garnett…plain and simple. And throwing Farmar , Kwame and/or anyone else in won’t make a difference. The Wolves want more than that….and they’ll get more than that if they are serious about making a deal (which to me, is unlikely in any case).

Sorry punkjones….there is no deal for the Lakers to complete. You’re asking Mitch Kupchak to go to the Mercedes Benz dealership and trying to walk off the lot with a $40,000 car with just $20,000 in cash and trade in. It just isn’t gonna happen.

O’Neal is a possibility, but I suspect the only way that deal gets done is for Odom and Bynum…..that is a little rich for the Lakers. I’m not sure JO is worth it.

are you the same guy that said he would be cheering for the spurs if the lakers dont get another superstar? if so, what the hell are you doing here? i told you to leave and never come back!

Hey “nba analyst” there almost was a deal with Garnett going to L.A in that 4 way deal, but boston pulled out….Minn,L.A and Indiana was ready for it.You never know smart guy he might just come to L.A next year as a free agent if a trade isn’t worked out. Then he can help Kobe rip all YOU laker haters hearts out—–LOL!

  • kim

Dallas?? how can they need KG they already have Dirk?

  • nba analyst

Hey lukein…..I’m enough of s smart guy to realize that even if KG opts out, he’ll opt out for more money than he is getting now. And the Lakers won’t be far enough under the salary cap, if they are under at all, to be able to fit in a salary like that.

(FWIW, it is the same reason why Laker fans have nothing to fear from Kobe opting out in a couple of years…..not many teams can arrange to get far enough under the cap to be able to offer a superstar deal…)

Might as well scratch that idea from the fantasy list….

Getting a bit testy in here, but it’s understandable. This site is named after a player who it would take a miracle to land. There are a lot of things you can blame the current Lakers management for, but the fact that they came as close as they did to making that 4-way trade is commendable. It was a sucker’s bet for Boston and they were almost roped into taking it. I believe the Lakers are still pursuing Garnett, but more in a “keeping our toe in the water” kind of way. If another good deal comes along, they will scrap their KG hopes without a second thought.
