It’s a question that many people like to debate amongst friends.

Who would win a one-on-one matchup against Kobe Bryant and LeBron James?

LeBron James was over at the London School of Basketball for a Nike promotion, and he was asked by a reporter who would win a one-on-one matchup between himself and Kobe Bryant: (via HoopFix.com)

I’m a team basketball player, its not a one on one sport. But, i’m not going to not take myself against anybody. I always feel no matter who im going against that I’m going to come out victorious. We won’t see it, nobody will ever see it, so you all can stop asking that question.”

It was a great follow-up question as Bryant was asked the same question last year, and without hesitation said he would win the match-up.

We will never see it because lebron knows he would never win. It just like when he got dunked on 2 years ago at his camp, nike took it off the web for some reason. Lebron loves to win but doesnt hate to lose, he doesnt have the X factor like kobe, michael, magic, larry, kareem, d wade etc. Kobe would smoke him because of everything he said. love how he said he would even before he knew his opponent, thats a true champion; never question yourself for a second

come on, what’s he going to say “oh no kobe would beat me”…even if he actually believed that he wouldn’t say it. this is the “correct answer” on his part because he’d be an idiot not to pick himself. i’d lose even more respect for him for not picking himself

Best question ever! Think of the money that could be made in a one on one. The only problem is motivation who has the self mojo. The game should be once each year with the best ball player of the top five teams.

  • KB hater

I am Lakers fan but I’ll put my money on LBJ  over the Self-center/KB anytime; even when He was in his prime.

If you guys think Kobe can take Lebron 1on1, you’re stupid. Lebron is too quick, to big and strong for Kobe.

You’re stupid.  I can be childish too.

  • Darkman 22

Kobe in his prime would murder him. Kobe would win in a close game let’s call it.. LBJ can’t handle pressure!!! Cleveland, Boston ,and Dallas knows at crunch time Lebron Buckles James buckles under pressure. 1 on 1 to much pressure 4 LBJ

  • Dugan

Queen Lebron would want Wade or Bosh to play for him since he’s not even man enough to be the man of a franchise.

  • analyst

In a one-on-one game, you win by either having a superior jump shot or better post-up game than the other guy.  Lebron has neither.  Being quicker and more athletic doesn’t do much in one-on-one because your defender is always right behind you.  There is no open court for Lebron to go for his dunk.  Kobe wins. No question!

on another topic, i was totally disappointed recently when jerry west was not included in the best 10 players of all time.  i watched the guy for years, and there is not doubt he was one of the top 10.

Man, even the QUEEN himself don’t believe that he can beat Kobe!  He never once said that he can take him.  All he said was that “I’m not gonna not take myself against anybody… we won’t see it, um nobody will ever see it, so y’all could stop asking that question.”  That is NOT him saying that he would win a one on one against Kobe Bryant!

Look at his body language.  That guy is squirming over that question and he’s saying what he thinks he needs to say and he’s still saying it wrong!  That’s because he doesn’t believe it himself!  There’s NO CONFIDENCE in his tone, his demeanor, and he couldn’t wait to get outta that chair afterwards!

Kobe on the other hand, “I would.  I would.”  He said that before the dude even finished asking the question!  That’s CONFIDENCE!  That’s knowing who he is and that he’s got LeB!tch OWNED!  His body language is confident, comfortable, and full of energy!  Kobe won even before taking the court!
He believes it already as opposed to LeBronze who tried to answer the question in a round about way.  Kobe was direct and succinct and was almost laughing at the question, like, “yo, why would you even bring this up?”

All you LeBum fans gotta be real while evaluating the videos.  You may be his fans, but you also got to be able to deduce what was said and how it was said!  You just blindly stating that LeChoke would win and not even taking his own video into consideration.  He was so quick to add that “we won’t see it, um nobody will ever see it, so y’all could stop asking that question.”  That fool don’t want NO PART of Kobe in a one on one situation!

basketball is a team game.thats why kobe has the rings….duuu

  • Cavs Fan

LBJ……………………………LOSER. WHat a chump. And all his fans…………….you treat him as if he’s imprtant. The guy lived off the state, went to HS for free ‘er, um scholarship (catholic charities) drove a free hummer his section 8 ma could no way afford, came to the Cavs as a hometown here when he never was a home towner. The dude grew up following winners. He never once was one. Oh.his h.s. team won. Big deal. You beat slow white kids. The dude talks about his HS as if he graduated from Duke. The “biness” man he is……….c’mon. I’d tell him to his face too if he ever had the nerve to come back and face the fans of the Cavs. WHat a tool. SOme role model. He’s teaching his sons to be liars, adulterers, selfish….and all his flunky buddies from Akron who ride his shirt tail….c’mon men, boys, have sopme stones of your own. Kobe……….WINNER…….game on the line, last shot at the buzzer………..who do you want? I may have seen LeBron make one or two game winning shots, most were missed. I never saw Kobe, Michael, Larry, Magic miss. They’re Champions. LeBron………..a whole lotta nothing at the end.
