The following is written by Kobe for his Truth section. Very inspirational quotes from former United States Secretary of State; Colin Powell.

KB24: I found these quotes from Colin Powell to be inspirational, and felt they would help set the tone for our ball club going into the season. Each player on the team received a copy, and I thought I would share them with you as well:

1. “A dream doesn’t become a reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.”

2. “Success is a result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence.”

3. “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.”

Strength and honor,
KB

  • Tim-4-Show

Did PJ pass this out and KB just post them on his website? OR did Kobe print these, distribute them, and then post? I’m guessing the second, which means Kobe is turning into PJ as floor leader. Next thing you know he’ll be handing out books.

These guys have enough failure to learn from, now its just working their tail off and making adjustments as they go.

Kobe threw his loyalty out the window with his rants. Not only towards his teammates but also to his fans and the laker organization. Just because they didn’t do what he wanted doesn’t make him loyal. I’m still a KB fan, that’s just the truth.

    mr47,

the only thing kobe needs to be loyal to is winning.why should he show loyalty to an organization that lied to him and a bunch of lazy teamates that play only for a paycheck???

  • Tim-4-Show

What’s loyal, telling management that you will help them sell out every venue you play in, no matter how pathetic their efforts are? Telling management that you will never leave, no matter how incompetent they prove to be? Or by telling them to shape up or you can do it without me?

That’s like a little kid’s argument when he tells his parents, if you loved me, then you’d let me drink, smoke, party, and skip school. Excuse me, there’s such a thing called tough love… do you want to know what that is?

Loyalty would have been to speak your mind to the organization in Private. It would have been to channel your anger to management and the changes you want behind close doors. Not to rant to the media about management nor to lakers fans about Bynum. Not only with this have been loyalty, but it would have been SMART. Why Smart??? The Lakers had very little leverage in trade negotiations with other teams knowing Kobe wants out. It is what it is now. So Let’s Play Ball.

“and felt they would help set the tone for our ball club going into the season.”

    2. “Success is a result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence.”

Kobe is obviously talking about the future, this season in particular. Bringing up the past serves no real purpose, because we failed as a team last year. Looking to the future, with these goals, I feel is one heck of a positive thing Kobe is trying to do. It made Kobe think and made him think this is what we need this year.

This is a very good sign if you are a Laker Fan and wondered if Kobe was going to give his all this season. A very good sign indeed.

How do you know Kobe didnt speak in private many times…and finally he had enough of FO BS!!!! Loyalty is speaking up as to why Shaq was really traded and not letting your star player take a beating in the media for 3-4 years, when behind closed doors the FO knew the truth!!!
    LETS KEEP IT REAL!!!!!

This is an incorrect read about the FO “letting your star player take a beating in the media” Jerry Buss is on record as saying that it was his decision to trade Shaq. So I wouldn’t put the blame on the FO for the media blaming Kobe.
