Even if it is fake, how does this prove that? A person can't be Japanese and like a Chinese player?

It's clear that the guy threw those names in because they were Asian and would hopefully pass as Japanese some how.

That's just as ignorant as me coming here pretending to be Italian, but saying my favourite players were, "Jose Calderon, Pau Gasol and Rudy Fernandez".

Doesn't make sense at all.

It wasn't clear because it could have passed off of being vague. It's not like you have to be Chinese to like a Chinese player. Even though I'm pretty sure this account is fake now (since there hasn't been any response yet) this could have gone either way. Someone might have looked at it that this account is fake because he likes Chinese players and he's Japanese and the only reason he picked an Asian player was so he can pass as being truely Japanese. Or maybe some others (like me) could have realized that yeh maybe this guy is Japanese but it's pretty cool how he likes the Chinese players (Asian pride). So yeh, it makes sense that way because even though it may seem like he just threw in those names to see if he can get away with it, doesn't always mean that he actually did. I mean if I was a new member and said I was Vietnamese or Filipino (or both because I am) and Yi Jianlian, Yao Ming, and Sun Yue were my favorite players, I'd be pretty mad if someone accused me of being fake because I like Chinese players and I'm trying to pass off as Vietnamese/Filipino.

I wouldn't say officially but most likely. But the reasoning behind why he could be fake isn't the way to prove it.

Well everyone is entitled to their opinion :) But It is rare for a Japanese to like Chinese players, I wouldn't say the same thing for a VIetnamese or Filipino trying to do the same, because I'm not sure there has been the same beef between Chinese and Vietnamese/Filipino and Chinese and Japanese. I've met a lot of Japanese and mostly all of them disliked Chinese. There has been a lot of hate for past brutalities, and that has passed on. ( I don't know if you are aware about the past between Japan and China)
So when a japanese comes here and says the name of all the NBA chinese players I will have to double check on that.

This.

Plus, I wasn't saying the only reason we should discredit this guy is because he is supposedly Japanese but likes Chinese players. But it is definitely a fishy thing.

I mean, to use a better illustration, if a Brazilian guy joined a Football (soccer) messageboard and said his favourite player of all time was Diego Maradona, then something would be fishy. South American pride? Hell no. Brazil and Argentina are big rivals when it comes to sports.

Yeh I get what you guys are saying. I'm pretty aware of the things that happened in the past and stuff and I guess there will always be beef and such. Only reason I said anything anyway because even if you didn't mean to say anything out of context, anyone else could have just believe he was really serious. Like if he really did like those Chinese players and we just straight up discredited him, then I'd be pissed off too. I guess in this situation, the account is fake because of how nothing has happened and he hasn't responded at all. Just saying just because he's Japanese and likes Chinese players doesn't automatically going to mean he's a fraud. Also, I wouldn't say it is rare because all the Asians got to stick together. :toocool:
By the way, I haven't seen South American pride before (maybe Latin American or just Latino/Hispanic altogether and Brazil isn't part of that group anyway).

well for example, in the World Club Championship (football), LDU from Ecuador played Manchester United from England.

I know that Brazilian football fans wanted the South American team to beat the European team.

I'm betting you didnt grow up in Japan though

most people, regardless of race, like Yao Ming; it's when you list Yi and Sun Yue as your other favourite players that the whole Japanese thing becomes fishy
