Wow lots to unpack here. Honestly first thing I think about his how critical he would have been to our recruiting efforts for max FAs this summer. Second, who is president now?

This 100% I mean sure this is a terrible look for our organization but our recruiting efforts is at the forefront of my mind right now. SMH [expletive] everything

the roster he created for Luke was basically 1980s basketball team.  while Luke actually had some kind of vision for the Lakers.

good riddance.   now get Jerry West as our GM.

Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka visited with LeBron James and agent Rich Paul on Saturday, league sources tell ESPN. Johnson offered no indication that he was on the brink of bailing on the Lakers, sources said.

This just adds onto the dysfunction of the organization.

This also likely means no star free agent has given an indication of joining the Lakers this off-season.

I hope Pelinka is fired next. It's already been said no other GM likes dealing with him due to him being a former agent.

I thought a lot of people wanted him gone?

His vision for the team was bad. He pushed the idea that the Lakers needed play-makers and not shooters. His vision was responsible for the players the Lakers got in the off-season.

He needed to go. But, the Lakers still have to hire someone good.

So much of this feels like @kobebryant’s last game. Team employees and members of the media lining up for a final goodbye. The man himself lingering, hesitant to truly walk away. Beyond surreal.

I think it’s clear there has to be quite the overhaul, I don’t think it’s a total problem because he coulda been holding us back

But we’ll have to wait and see from there

Yea our last two front offices have been garbage so this is a blessing in disguise.

Theres a way you exit from this position and this was not it. You don't let your coworkers and team know you are leaving in a impromptu press conference during the last game of the season. He has virtually killed every chance of landing a big FA this summer with how dysfunctional this team looks now. I'm glad hes gone but pissed he pulled one more dumb magic move before he left.

As long as the Lakers completely clean house and hire people who have a good vision and plan for the future, the Lakers will be ok.

This just shows how inept the current guys were, Magic included. Not sure how any free agents could blame a new front office for what's going on right now. This is on Magic and Pelinka.

I think it's actually possible especially if Luke stays.

Luke Walton, Brian Shaw, Kurt Rambis are all here just saying.

magic has become a total failure when it come to basketball decisions off the court. He’s brief tenure as coach was laughable
