Mini update:

James is sidelined indefinitely with a strained left groin and will not travel with the team to Salt Lake City on Thursday, Lakers coach Luke Walton said. James will be re-evaluated Friday in Los Angeles.

Walton did not rule out the possibility of James traveling to Utah on his own Friday for the Jazz game, however.

If he could play he would travel with the team. Doesnt matter, Jazz game is pretty winnable.

Evaluation is Friday in LA, Lakers leave for Utah on Thursday.

@Utah isn’t exactly “winnable”, even with LeBron. He hasn’t won there in 6 years, lol. Would make sense for him to return Sunday against CLE, but I’m done guessing as it’s evident the Lakers downplayed the initial injury and nobody knows much at this point.

There’s no way of knowing at this point

I mean they could also just be resting Lebron mixed with him healing

It could be one of those, if it was the playoffs he’d play but it’s not

To me that makes more sense than them playing it down simply because they have nothing to gain

The Bron thing is concerning, Lakers seemed to have misdiagnosed the degree of the injury and the timetable of return.

I honestly felt like he would return on one of the okc games

Didn’t the first time, I think he will the next one

I have a feeling the front office expected the Lakers to do better than they have been in his absence and probably thought he could be brought along slowly.

Can’t wait to watch him play again though

UPDATE:

LeBron has increased on-court activity but will be out until at least Jan. 16. Perfect timing if he returns, that starts a 3-game set against Houston, OKC, and the Warriors. Team should be able to stay above water with Utah, Cleveland and Chicago coming up.

If we go 3-0 before he comes back (no guarantees obviously) then we’ll be 26-19 with more confident guys surrounding Lebron and I’d like our chances against okc and Houston

I think golden state may put it on us after last game lol

all games are tough if you don't play as a team which they are doing more now just need to learn how to close out games and get the lead and keep it/! We have way less turnovers when everybody focused on each other than iso ball

Lebron will now be out until after the All-Star Break if he even decides to play the rest of the season. It will depend on where this team is and what changes it has made.  Get ready for a rought season.

And the Lakers will lose all their remaining games. Now every time they win we can be pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed...
