If you've ever had to treat or counsel a person who is considered mentally insane, you would know it sums it up exquisitely.

yea it really does

I'm not saying it doesn't, I'm just saying that isn't the definition of the word, it is definitely a trait of an insane person.  Anyhow, back to the topic :)

AD not a free agent til 2020. By then he will either sign a supermax extension to stay with the Pelicans or be traded elsewhere. There is virtually no chance he actually reaches free agency in New Orleans and whatever team trades for him will get a handshake agreement from him to re-sign there. If we want AD we have to trade for him.

My personal preference would be to sign KD, Kawhi, Klay, etc And just keep our depth. If that fails then I'd be open to acquiring AD as long as NOLA doesn't trade rape us. Maybe to some it sounds like a homer take but with LBJ and Rich Paul here I can see the Pelicans putting a little Laker tax in a potential trade.

I personally don't think LA is going to get AD via a trade...not because it's the Lakers but someone is going to up the ante and I dont think Magic and Rob like getting [expletive]ed in a trade...hasn't happened yet and won't happen.  I also don't think trading for AD helps them the way fans think it will UNLESS they sign KD or Kawhi first.  I dont see Klay as a max player for any franchise IMO.  If Im paying a guy 32M+ a season he's got to be a cornerstone piece.  If Klay wasn't in GS he'd never have the clout he has now.

In the 2020 offseason teams aren't going to have the cap space they have in 2019.  2019 I believe like 10 teams will have a max slot to play with.  That means even your high level role players are going to get paid.

Please don't mischaracterize what I said with a complete strawman argument.

Of course we should try to land a Free Agent in the summer.  I never said we shouldn't.

I pointed out the continued futility of a certain course of action:  trying to force a team to trade their best player to us 3 years in a row.  It didn't work with PG13 (to OKC)...didn't work with Kawhi (to TOR)...there is NOTHING to suggest it's going to happen with a top 5-7 player IN CONFERENCE for a bunch of young players, NONE OF WHOM have Franchise Player potential...some BARELY have AllStar Potential!

Doesn't make sense to me.

But you don't have to listen to me.  When this summer comes, if AD requests a trade, there will be people who are ADAMANT about not moving Kuzma or Ingram...they will say we have ALL the leverage and NOP will have to trade with us.  After NOP trades AD elsewhere, they will say we can get him in Free Agency so we SHOULDN'T have traded the youth for him.

Same *stuff*, different year.   Like I said, INSANITY.

This line hit hard. Literally the same song and dance.

Isn’t like 98% of this board on board with trading for Anthony Davis lol

98% of this board is on board for trading for any top 10 player.  That's a pretty low bar.

It's been the same flawed mindset on this forum for years now. People are trying to build a dynasty in one season for a team that has yet to make the playoffs. We gotta build a championship team first.

The dream on this forum is for Ball to turn into Kidd, Ingram to be an allstar, keep Bron, KD signs, we somehow get another top 5 player without gutting our team.

People want our starting 5 to consist of 2 all stars and 3 all time greats.

In reality, we likely win with much less.

Flawed mindset of the forum lol

I wasn’t aware anyone on here had any impact on the actual state of the lakers?

Someone on here could literally post that Lonzo is the next kobe, and Ingram is the next Jordan and it would have the same impact as everyone else’s post

Flawed mindset lmao

Not just some on the forums. Our own FO may be making the very same mistake.

I've always said this and that the roster is going to be somewhere in the middle.  I dont even think you can have all of those guys.  If KD/Kawhi signs then Brandon Ingram and/or Kuzma is being shipped out regardless of fit.

LeBron and AD had dinner last night. AD publicly said that he values "legacy", and winning championships over money. So it looks to be very likely he'll be traded sooner or later (before or just after 2019 free agency).

That legacy thing is pretty damning that he wants out. Just a matter of when we get the Ad has requested a trade update.
