The other night the Lakers faced the Rockets in a game that seemed to have the LA players pulling their hair out. The officials were the target of the anger but the Rockets themselves were the source.
James Harden and Chris Paul specifically, can be as annoying as any players who've ever played the game when it comes to watching their on-court antics that are designed to cause officials to blow the whistle. The problem is is that they're absolute masters of this trickeration and it makes them a nightmare to defend.
For opposing players it's got to be annoying the way they coax the officals into these calls, and for myself as a fan watching it happen to a team I'm cheering for, it kills me! Absolutely burns me up!
So it got me to thinking. Who are the players that have been most effective in NBA history at earning calls?
And also, who uses or used annoying tactics most effectively to get under the skin of their opponents?
Name the cats who you have a hard time watching and why, guys who are masters of deception, or those who you think the opponent hates playing against...
I'll start the list:
James Harden- Master of all ball handling maniplulations to draw a whistle at the rim and the 3 point line. Master of falling to appear a foul took place or the opponent stepped under him
Chris Paul- Master of the Head toss back while dribbling & the exaggerated foul when taking a charge or offensive foul
JJ Barea- Master of the Head toss back
DWade- Master of the ball fake, get the defender off his feet, jump into the defender when he's coming down move
Bruce Bowen- Master of stepping under a 3-point shooters feet so he couldn't land correctly
Zaza Pachulia- Master of the Bruce Bowen step under and the hard foul to send a message
