As @TheSteinLine reports, center Tyson Chandler is getting a buyout with the Suns and will become a free agent upon clearing waivers. Chandler will sign with the Lakers, league sources tell ESPN.

Mentioned his name yesterday. I think he can be solid for this team. Love it.

Hurts Mo, but hopefully there will still be minutes for him.

He fits, well only need about 10-15 from him a night. Good eventual signing

All he really needs to do is play smart, rebound, and protect the rim

We’d have a better record if he had been our backup center since the start of the season

This solves like half of our issues. Now we don't have to rely on Javale all the time. We actually are getting pretty stacked at the 5 now. Javale, Chandler, Wagner, Williams. I really love that depth. If we could just swap KCP with an actually shooter(Korver maybe) we could actually make a run this year.

Timing of this is funny. Chandler and LA definitely had communication before he was bought out by the Suns.

He’s a bit washed, but much better than anyone else we have. 10-15 MPG, I’m not complaining. Big body who can still rebound and catch lobs. More importantly, McGee’s minutes can be managed a bit better. He’s been a monster out there.

Hoping he can remain solid for the remainder of the season.

I do wanna see Wagner at some point.

Yup.

@sam_amick
Lakers column update from earlier: While Magic dominated the meeting with Luke, I'm told the Lakers coach asked his front office boss for big man help beyond JaVale. Enter Tyson Chandler, who - per @TheSteinLine & @wojespn - will sign with the Lakers

His first game will probably be agaisnt minny on the 7th. Wish this could have been one before this back to back. Every game is important.

Great signing -- many of us predicted Tyson Chandler would get bought out and the Lakers would grab him (wish we could get Ariza, too).

He's not going to be able to run fast breaks at his age anymore, but he will provide some solid defense and rebounding in limited minutes. This will definitely help the rotation problems we've had as well.

You all saying Tyson’s old makes me feel old. He used to play my high school when he was at Dominguez. He was really hyped back then, enough to be drafted straight out of high school. I wonder how things would’ve gone had he stayed with the clippers. Wasn’t it a trade of Elton for Chandler? Time flies damn near 20 years now. Hopefully he can contribute a few meaningful minutes a night. Not expecting anything.

Bye for now

Yes, the trade was Brand for Tyson. Let's see what he can bring to the table at 36. The other options were broken centers, like Asik or Noah 🤷‍♂️

So rotations are

Starting: Lonzo - Ingram - Lebron - Kuz - Javale

Bench: Rondo - Hart - Lance - (Svi or KCP) - Chandler

I still would see if its possible to move KCP. Maybe they can just tell him hes out of rotation so he might as well waive his NTC. I mean he's already barely getting time as of now. Seems like a swap with him and korver would make a lot of sense. Cavs have already moved korver out of rotation with that Lue firing and both contracts are pretty close but not close enough for trade to work. Not familiar enough with Cavs players to know if they have acceptable fillers. Funny enough Nwabia could be one of the fillers.

Same.  I have my concerns.  He's look pretty bad for most of his tenure in PHX. Makes me think Noah has to be really far gone as a player if they didn't kick the tires there first.

Hoping he can remain solid for the remainder of the season.
