Kawhi has missed 8 games and his team, which was the #1 seed last season, has gone 7-1. He’s not winning MVP, and I doubt he cares about it. Harden missed 10 last season and that was an anomaly. Historically speaking, MVP’s have always played 75+ games. It’s not going to a guy who doesn’t even play back 2 backs this far into the season. As great as he’s been, he’s clearly still managing his past and current injuries.

Meh. It’s grown into a narrative-based award. Giannis and LeBron will fight for it.

Lebron is the best in the game...and was when others won the award. Kawhi is being hyped right now. I personally see him winning it despite missing games. I think Bron's time as MVP has passed. They are trying to build new stars to take over when Bron is gone. I never paid much attention to this award but if it was really about the most valuable player Kobe would have a bunch and Bron would have like 3 or 4 more.

I would love it for bron to win it as a Laker.

Season MVP, Finals MVP, NBA champion(s) and 2-3 all time points by the end of his 4 year.

This is my prediction for Lebron during his stay in LA.

Bron was terrible on defense for most of the game.

His body language has been terrible

Bron is currently THE MVP as he is almost every season regardless if it goes to others....

Obviously. He has been the real MVP almost every season, the other guys are in name only and just because they aren’t going to give it to him every season as it would get stale.

Not as terrible as your analysis.

You could ask every gm in the league a single player they would want on their team. You would get zero KD votes. You would get plenty of LeBron, AD, freak, Curry and a vast majority would be LeBron or AD. you are entitled to your baseless analysis tho.

KD zero votes?

Nothing wrong with admitting LeBron looks old which he does

Giannis is looking like the front runner for MVP and he's got my vote for winning it this season

KD is debatably the best player on his team. So no.

If the Lakers finish with over 50 wins, LeBron will likely win MVP.  If we win over 55, he wins it going away.

Taking a very bad team with misfit toys and a lot of young players will be more than enough.  Reporters already WANT to give it to him for coming to the West to a team that was fairly bad and taking on GSW instead of staying in the East and joining a playoff team like Philly.

MVP won't be based on Best player.  It will be a competition to see which player has a greater impact on their team than LeBron.  MVP is LeBron's to lose.

And Kawhi will have to do something outrageous to win.  They already don't want to reward him for forcing his way out of SAS.

Dark Horse?  Jokic.  If the Nuggs win 65 or more, Jokic wins MVP.  Other than that, little to no competition for LeBron.  Everything is magnified in LA.

Spot on breakdown of the MVP scenario.

Biggest problem for James with the above parameters is that the Lakers aren't likely to win 50 games. The computers indicate it, and when I look at the schedule I'm projecting them to win around 44 or 45 games.

Because the parity level in the WC is at a level never before seen where so many teams are bunched so closely, if this trend continues throughout the season, 44 or 45 wins may be a decent total versus the other 14 teams in the conference. Therefor making the Lakers playoff seed perhaps more important than the win total. If they get homecourt with a top 4 seed that may be the team accomplishment that could snag it for James.

Your Jokic point is real, even if nobody in the world knows it! I don't see them winning over 60 games either, but if they were to somehow have more wins than the Warriors, who we all expected would run away with the 1 seed, the Joker may be smiling big...

I think we should rest him here and there from now on to avoid further scares.

Is this the first time Lebron will miss significant amount of games?

No. But one of the longest in his career. He doesn’t miss much.
