Final figure on Luol Deng buyout reduction with Lakers: $7.3M. Lakers still have $38M in 2019 salary cap space.

He will earn a vet min at best but good riddance! Need that cap space next season!!

Did the Lakers give up offset in exchange for buyout?  If not you want him to get  big contracts particularly in 2019-20.  More cap space for you.   A 9.3 mil would give close to 4 mil back if offset used unless I totally misunderstand rule, which lately happens a lot.  But any way  this is nice move by you guys.

I'm willing to bet something absolutely unforeseen happens this season that is a direct result of this trade. If all of the kids are still here in February, something went horribly wrong.

Nowadays it's not an issue.

Guys like McGee and Zubac will be fine.

Not enough for a 10 year max at some 37.8M (35%  of the cap) unless Zubac is renounced

Could just trade the 1st rounder for 2 2nd rounders and they are all good.

The Wolves have launched their planned pursuit of @LuolDeng9, league sources say, after the veteran forward became a free agent by clearing waivers earlier this week

Nobody was going to take him without us taking something back. There was no way we trade him for just a 2nd rounder and thats it

He's solid with the type of talent around him now.  Lebron won a ship in CLE with Mozgov as his big man.  Not every piece has to be a star.  If Zu can rebound, finish and not make dumb mistakes on the floor he'll be a plus player.

Zubac is weak

Zubac hasnt really done anything that suggests that he should even be on the floor. However, I understand your point. With Bron, Lonzo, Rondo, Ingram and Lance all getting minutes we may need a more athletic big that can space the floor a bit.

Hopefully his game has improved but last season he seemed to regress imo.

He hasn't done anything to suggest he's going to be a feature player, which a lot of fans including me wanted.  A lot of people jumped on that Marc Gasol hype.  However, there is value in a big body that isn't making mistakes, finishing dump offs and protecting the rim a bit.  I think he's capable of all 3.

Not that I disagree. I’m going based off what have you done for me lately. He seemed uncoordinated, not confident, and lost. I think he is able to get back to the flashes we saw his rookie year but I have my severe doubts.

I assume you are renouncing all expiring vets? If so still need incomplete roster charges even though  the vets won't have cap holds.  I  think 3 does it

I wonder if thibs wasn't a GM/Coach would Deng have taken that much in a buyout? I just can't see why any scout, coach, GM, etc could watch this guy play and think he deserves even a min contract. You want him to mentor then hire him as a coach.
