Cool. We were always going to be in position to get Kawahi regardless. The question still remains whether he will be attainable.

This also likely means that a trade this season is unlikely (Deng would have been the main component to match salaries).

KCP has a no-trade cause, and it's unlikely we trade Rondo since he is our only backup PG (and Lonzo has had injury concerns thus far).

So essentially it's LeBron + young guys and then hope we sign the next max free agent. I'm all for it. I'm confident the FO has an idea of who is joining us next year.

I think it's too premature to think a trade is unlikely.

There could be alot of varying scenarios that come into play.  Albeit I'd prefer keeping the youth, depending on our success heading into the deadline, there is a chance one of the key young guys are packaged for a proven star.

Players such as...

Jimmy Butler, Damian Lilard, and a few other names will likely be surrounding the rumor mill and I wouldn't be surprised if we're linked (whether it be true or false).

There definitely will be disgruntled stars asking for a trade this season. But my point is that Deng was the main piece in order to match salaries.

Lillard has a salary of $24M. We would have to send a bunch of players in order to match salaries at this point, which is unlikely.

KCP has a no-trade clause due to his contract. Rondo is unlikely to be traded. Lance, Beasley, and Mcgee combined would still only be about $10M. Even if you trade Rondo ($9M), you'd still have to add more players, in addition to the young pieces, in order to match salaries.

its going to change through out the season and how the players play with each other.

Solid move from Magic to shed Deng now. Obviously not i Deng's interest to sit on the bench for another season and he can earn back some of the money he left on the table.

Good decision. People knew how desperate we were to get rid of Deng and were probably asking for way too many assets. He's not worth losing Ingram, Ball, Kuzma, plus picks over.

Finally after this season we can basically start with a clean slate. This pretty much means we are forgoing our chance at a Leonard trade during the deadline, but I can understand why they seized this opportunity. Not worth banking on a potential Toronto trade, especially when the latest reports say Leonard is open to sticking it out for a bit.

Personally I would've been surprised with a trade, unless one or two of the kids absolutely failed.

I think The Lakers are focused on Leonard or even more so, Thompson, next summer. Both are perfect fits.

It is doubtful, but really there is just no telling at all any more.

I'm willing to bet something absolutely unforeseen happens this season that is a direct result of this trade.  If all of the kids are still here in February, something went horribly wrong.

Nowadays it's not an issue.

Guys like McGee and Zubac will be fine.
