LOL the spurs did Leonard bad, far far away out of LA lol

Derozan is very limited player but i would have never thought they brake up with him and they drafted him..wow

Kawhi Leonard has no desire to play in Toronto, league source tells ESPN.

Adrian Wojnarowski

Toronto has reached agreement in principle to acquire San Antonio's Kawhi Leonard for package that includes DeMar DeRozan, league sources tell ESPN. Trade is larger on both sides, and players are still being informed of their inclusion in the deal. Trade call with league today.

No such thing as loyalty in this business.

Would Derozan be a good fit in San Antonio though? Not sure why Spurs did this trade other than getting him out of West (and possibly country lol)

Sounds like the Raptors might have sat down with DeMar and told him he wasn't going to be traded. Yikes.

What the Kawhi trade means for the Raptors, Spurs and NBA

At the end of a mid-December practice last season, the five highest-ranking members of Toronto's brain trust called DeMar DeRozan into the office of Masai Ujiri, Toronto's president of basketball operations, for something of an intervention.

"I didn't know what the hell was going on," DeRozan told ESPN a few months later. "I thought, 'S---, I know I can't be traded.' It was like I was being called into the principal's office."

Ujiri told DeRozan he could be Toronto's Kobe Bryant -- a lifetime superstar carrying his team toward title contention -- if he cleared the last hurdle in his game: shooting more 3s. DeRozan started chucking over Toronto's next few games, and the Raptors hummed to 59 wins. The story appeared to have ended happily.

Blake Griffin signs a max deal and gets traded 6 months later.  Things change.  The Raps got exposed (again) in the POs, FO realized that the current roster had likely achieved its potential.

Shows to you it is difficult to build a relationship based on trust in most of these franchises. Raptors fans already began salivating over cap space in 2020.

Pop will most likely retire after LMA and Demar's contract expired. Maybe even sooner, this is just postponing the inevitable Spurs rebuild.

Tensai they had the clock ticking and better to get something than nothing! Fo sho didn’t want him on the Lakers they don’t like us anyways! Can’t blame them for trading out of conference same thing I’d do plus Green a little much draft pick is just an add on. If he plays he should help them in EC next season. Lakers still have all the cards cap space for 19! Lotsa players available

Milan Lucic ripped on Demar....is part of it is bitterness over NBA salary compared to NHL.

I love watching Hockey in person, not so much on tv but if it's a great series or the Stanley Cup I'll watch a game here and there. I can't really get into the sport fully though because the fans and players have a massive chip on their shoulder. It's so obnoxious it's a turnoff to the whole sport. Basically, Hockey is the best, toughest sport that takes the most skill to play and all other sports are for [expletive]. I understand over compensating because Hockey isn't popular but they take it too far and ruins any potential conversation.
