not sure exactly what...just seems like an odd cast of characters.  Thought I guess if they're all 1 year contracts, could just be place holders - show me what you got and if you don't [expletive] anything up maybe we'll keep you around kinda thing

Lance is strongwilled.  He will push the kids and make them better, similar to MWP, IMHO.  I'm not a fan of him as a player but I understand why they chose him.

I actually liked the Laker pickups. Tough minded players with playoff experience who can push these kids

I think Lance was the most strange pickup. I get the idea to add players that are super competitive and i suppose he could be solid. Lebron clearly must have signed off on the deal and it's a 1yr thing. If it doesn't work, he's gone by the deadline.

I do look forward to see what kind of stuff he's going to pull against George in a game. Not sure he'll settle with blowing in his ear.

^ if it’s not the ear; what else on George’s body could Stephenson blow?

Eye?

It's a possibility; although Paul George can easily deflect Stephenson's blow by just closing his eyelids. The only way Stephenson's blowing is effective is to direct towards a place George is unable to close via his muscles (i.e. where he must physically move away from and/or block Stephenson's breath with his hands; thus creating a barrier).

George's mouth and eyes are already a no-go due to the fact that he can easily shut his eyes & close his mouth shut; making Lance's blowing all for naught.

The nose might be Lance's only option since George, and any other human, cannot easily close their nostrils. The only problem that remains is the angle of the attack.

We'll see as the season progresses. Magic brought Stephenson here because of his motor and craftiness; so Lance has until training camp to watch video of George and see what makes him tick.

Yeah, not really my intention to push the conversation in that direction.

I do think there is a chance that Lebron wanted Lance because he's one of the few guys who got under his skin...

In order to compete with a team like golden state you need weird tough guys who can get under people’s skin and throw them off their game

It’s the only way. If we were to land khawi with lebron you aren’t going to out talent GS. That roster is like 7 years in the making

The only way to beat them is to have a guy like lebron, and a sidekick superstar and then role players who will push them off their game

Lance has always been that guy as has rondo

They always play tough and get under opponents skin

When the Lakers signed Mozzy and Deng, my first reaction was: ”Are you [expletive]ing kidding me?”. Then i tried really hard to justify those signings and the closest i got was something along the lines of: "The FO believe enough in the young core that these additions were made to improve those guys in a season where we wont be getting a high draft pick". Kinda desperate, i know.

In the end, there weren’t any good justification for those moves and in my opinion were a result of Mitch and Jim panicking.

Initially i wasn’t a fan of this summer’s signings, but have come around on Rondo, Beasley and McGee. Rondo as a back-up to Lonzo will be fine and really help his development, and Beas and McGee are cheap and in this system they will be effective i think.

But i dont understand the Lance signing at all and no matter how hard i try to justify it, it just isn’t happening. Not sure what position he’s going to play or which lineups that makes sense with him in it.

Can anyone give me a better explanation, than: ”Lebron wanted Lance”?

I think Lance can come in as a guy to harass the ball handlers we will face.
Also the entertainment aspect is a factor.
Luke is a straight up coach. If a lineup isn't successful he'll go elsewhere.
Even with one year vets who were really playing for their careers in Brook and IT.
Lant won't play if he can't contribute in the team concept
