I don't see anything gained by the Lakers if they actually pursued this.
They have a LOT to gain...$50,000 for the SAME EXACT THING...why are the Lakers held to a different interpretation of the same rule, apples for apples?
Magic is well within his right to respond to a question about him as a PLAYER vs another PLAYER. He doesn't stop being a HOFer because he takes an executive office job.
The intent of the rule was to prevent tampering or the use of the media to woo a player. Giannis is under contract for about 4 more years, through 2021. It's not even CLOSE to the same situation with Paul George who only had 1 year left.
You can't divorce the context from the intent. If anything, the comments made by Magic about Giannis encouraged him to STAY in Milwaukee, not come to the Lakers.
