Might as well start the thread:

Lakers have two picks:

The Cavs 1st round pick (top 3 protected*) - projected to be early-mid 20s.

*It's apparently top 3 protected, but the lottery is for the top 4 picks, so theoretically, if the Cavs fall out of the playoffs we could get the 4th pick.

Denver 2nd round pick - probably mid 2nd round.

Thoughts or draft ideas?

Given where the pick is projected to go, i thikn there could be some value. We just landed Kuz and Hart using the 27th and 30th pick and i wouldn't mind the Lakers scouting staff to bring in another draft-steal.

We don't need anymore youth, that's not what Stars are going to want to come and play with.

This will likely be traded.  If fortunate enough, we attach Deng with the pick to shed his salary.  If not we can create a package surrounding one of our young studs for a bigger chip.

The youth movement is over ladies and gents.  It's time to reel in the bigger fish and it's evident with the IT trade we made today.

I would rather trade it for something.

I agree with the others. I think it'll be more valuable for us to trade it at this point. We have lots of young talent. If we did draft a player, it would probably be difficult to find the time to develop him next year anyways.

Largely depends on how this free agency plays out. But I would assume the FO will work hard to get rid of Deng's contract or attach the pick with our other young talent to attain another player (not by this trade deadline though).

Need to root for Cleveland to suck now. One injury or if they continue this losing they have been on could easily get us a great pick. Doubtful but that team has been quite a mess and players take a while to get adjusted. Would be crazy if they somehow miss the playoffs.

Yea would have to be a serious injury.  LeBron basically.  Aside from that I feel like the lowest the pick will be is 22nd-23rd.

I'd trade both picks and a 1st next year to get rid of Deng.  I doubt the Lakers do it.

They might.    Might take something back in the future, or the rights to someone who's in the Witness Protection Program.

If they get commitment from Lebron and George i think they'll try to shed Deng's deal and a 2018 and 2020 1st could be a good place to start.

However the idea that we dont need any more youth is ridiculous.

Kuzma, Ingram, Lonzo and Hart are among our best players.

And we are about four spots from the 8th spot...youth can only take you so far.

Sure, but let's not pretend it's the young guys that are holding back KCP and Lopez - the veterans - from making us better.

And those four young guys combined aren't paid as much this year as KCP and they're locked in to 4/5 yr rookie deals.

Not saying we should keep adding young guys and expect them to contribute, but adding talent from the draft is an important part of building a team. The spurs have been excellent at that aspect of team building and the Lakers shouldn't just trade away the pick just because we have enough young guys.

Bad trend in recent years of vets coming here and playing poorly.  Or at least not up to their previous levels.  Lou Williams is the only exception I can think of.

I see the chances to trade this pick along with Deng quite high.
