Clarkson has always been a scorer. He will just maybe be more efficient at it. Not a big loss for us

Agreed. JC was a nice player to have, but replaceable. Same thing with Lou, and he was a better scorer than JC.

Clarkson is wearing #8 and Nance is wearing #24 in Cleveland, coincidence?

Think this is so cool of JC and Nance.

How can you not love that?

Praying for  1. Some Cohesion (Ill fitting parts with young bucks, new guys, and those playing for next contracts may muck things up all season) 2. Better Coaching, No More Tanking (Last season was more of the latter but not sure how much of the former we can count on. Walton with something to prove this season as much as any Laker player) 3. Rookie Watch (Hoping Lonzo outshines his daddy (ROTY??), and Kuzma finds minutes and makes a push for all rook 2nd team)

READY FOR SEASON!!!

I liked both because they played hard and both were great athletes.  Neither were stars and I didn't hold them to that standard.  I'm glad they both have a chance to show Lakers fans they were unfairly ridiculed...

As long as they don't beat the Lakers, I have no problem with them doing well in their careers elsewhere.

Loved both but it was evident that they wouldn't be an integral part of our future.

Both fulfilled roles that can easily be replaced.

Digged those cats when they played here. Nance is a stand up guy and JC played his game. I wish them both well.

Nance is a good guy who can dunk, thanks for the highlights and... yeah thanks.

JC is a nice bench/role player, the move had to be done, thanks for the good times.

Wishing you both all the best.

JC is a starting caliber scorer for sure....but his defense was probably what kept him on the bench for us. But let's be real though, in today's NBA there are plenty of starters who suck just as bad on D and don't have anywhere close to Clarkson's scoring ability.

Altman and the Lakers' front office had discussed the possibility that they were clearing the way for the Lakers to create space to sign James as a free agent this summer. Altman had been the assistant GM under David Griffin in 2014, when the mere opportunity to bring back James pushed them to unload contracts in advance of his July free agency decision, dumping Jarrett Jack and Tyler Zeller. Altman watched Miami's flurry to clear space for James and Chris Bosh in 2010 and Golden State's efforts to land Kevin Durant in 2016. He knows that superstar partnerships in big markets are tough to combat.

If the Lakers and James wanted to be together, the Cavaliers couldn't stop it. Altman and Lakers GM Rob Pelinka had expanded conversations beyond Clarkson to include Nance. There came a crystallization that the Cavs were taking a far bigger risk passing on players who fit Cleveland's profile than rejecting a trade based on the possibility of bad optics in July.

This was the right move for them.  Always look to make your team better, no matter what your star says.  His leaving or staying is out of your hands anyway.

IMHO, PG13 and LeBron are already talking to each other about what they plan on doing and if the Lakers make sense for them together.  I'm quite sure the Cavs know this also.

This Allstar Break will probably solidify those plans...they will have a lot of face time together.
