One source told ESPN the players -- which also included freshmen Cody Riley and Jalen Hill -- were arrested on shoplifting charges.

The players are being questioned about stealing from a Louis Vuitton store that is located next to the team's hotel.

Good thing they didn't commit that crime in a country with Sharia law. They would have their most precious thing cut.

Only country that has Sharia law is Saudia Arabia, and because they're American citizens, they would've been shipped back to the USA since Sharia law does not apply to them. So they're in a worse situation.

LaVar Ball said he has been advised by council not to speak “due to the legal nature of the matter.” He had previously scheduled a press conference for 10:45 am from his hotel suite in Shanghai.

I blame middle child syndrome. He's clearly the Jan Brady of the Ball crew.

Dang, there are players with DUI’s and others who have beat women in this league and that hasn’t gotten as much attention as some teenagers being stupid while on a trip. That’s a strong ass last name man.

LOL...this guy is a professional journalist and doesn't know the difference between "counsel" and "council".

It's an international incident.  This could be huge.

I think its more that its in china which could mean they could face years in prison. They are very strict there. Though if any of them serve time then say goodbye to NCAA coming to china like this again and they will lose a lot of NBA support as well. If they did in fact steal that is wrong and they should probably get kicked off the team or at least suspended for a while but serving time in a foreign country for shoplifting is a bit much.

None, at all.

These kids get detained in China and get long prison sentences, while the POTUS is in the same country, for that matter.   This will lead to all sorts of negotiations, etc.
