At this point... I say keep randle, stretch Deng ... go after 1 max player.

For the moment ... I think we may overachieve.

My thinking is our natural progression will match up with golden states natural decline.

of course it’s still early and I could be singing a different tune come feb

Lots of Lakers Fans want to believe the same...I disagree but that doesn't count for much.

I actually like your plan.  Pay Randle the 15m which is his market value, then try to add a max vet superstar, then let them grow together, peaking at about the time GSW starts a decline.  The problem with that is the max vet superstar types want to win now, not 3 or 4 years later.  And, 1 max, vet type player is likely to come if another max vet does too.

A couple of other scenrios have developed in the past couple of days.  Monroe is being shopped.  Would the Suns be willing to take on Deng's contract if we took Monroe and coughed up a pick and/ or a young expendable player?  The Bucks just fleeced McDonough on the Beldsoe deal, maybe we strike now with him, before Monroe suits up.

Also, maybe the Bulls would be bold (read: stupid) enough to bring Deng "home".  Mirotic will be moved now, the Bulls are in the stockpile talent stage of rebuild, so picks and a young player would be enticing.  We can more easily move Mirotic later if need be.

it’s count for as much as my hope - nothing.

I get flashes of “cap space intensifies” memes and us left paying Lopez max and KCP max becomes nobody wants to come.

of course I said I may change my tunes by feb and we don’t owe Deng a speedy trade/buy out ... I think a few months of play can sure up my doubts and convert some or could have us all tossing whoever it takes to get rid of Deng

How is something like this possible?

Also...even if it is technically possible...0% chance the league lets us actually do it.

Interesting. He does cover the part about circumvention.

I do agree that this isn't something the League would allow, because then teams could always just extend players for 2-3 years at a low amount and stretch that much longer.

They should do it but I don't think deng will do. Maybe offering a scouting position after retiring will change his mind

Give him Tomjanovich's old position.

League can't stop it if it is legal and part of the CBA.  Circumvention refers to something agreed to outside of legal rules.  This is not.

I dont think that is correct.

Something agreed to outside legal rules is collusion. Circumvention refers to something within the rules that circumvent the intent of the CBA. We really are in a grey zone here and i dont have any clue how they will handle it.

Is Randle willing to come off the bench?

That's a good question.  I think the way he's played he shouldn't have to but if they sign 2 max guys I doubt he won't come off the bench.

Not everyone is embiid

Praying for  1. Some Cohesion (Ill fitting parts with young bucks, new guys, and those playing for next contracts may muck things up all season) 2. Better Coaching, No More Tanking (Last season was more of the latter but not sure how much of the former we can count on. Walton with something to prove this season as much as any Laker player) 3. Rookie Watch (Hoping Lonzo outshines his daddy (ROTY??), and Kuzma finds minutes and makes a push for all rook 2nd team)

READY FOR SEASON!!!

Is Deng really that useless to not see any minutes or be in the rotation? I'm not saying he's great on our team or he can make a difference but at least he can speak wisdom to the youth. I don't think he's even doing charity events lol. Such a bad signing. He pretty much got signed for nothing.
