He does not want to be a mentor for the young guys, and wants to play so he can prove himself.

Deng, you're trash. You should be thankful for the money you're getting and you are lucky the Lakers over paid for your bum ass.

Just read Ramona's article. It would seem like a buyout if anything that could happen. Out of shape.. injured.. all that money. Ain't worth it

Randles play as of late has made this a tougher decision for ME.
I’d rather keep him and stretch Deng and see where the chips land at the end of year. Also, it’s gonna take more than the “privilege” of paying randle to get someone to bite

Lakers will never buy him out. 0 benefit to the lakers and lakers owe nothing to Deng. Deng had a good season on the heat before coming to the lakers then looked like he aged 5 years in one season. He was gassed in that one preseason game where he played 10 mins and did nothing in game 1 of the season where he was given a final chance. He has no one to blame but himself. If it was for the love of the game like he says then he should have come into this season with better conditioning and energy.

You can say what you want about Moz but that dude at least played hard and ran the floor. Deng was checked out right when he got here.

No team is taking him straight up.obly he gets traded is if an asset is attached. You talking Nance? Zubac? Randle? The way Randle had played and accepted his bench role... doubt they trade him with Deng
They will seek all kind of deals but unless one of those players are going with him... it's a buyout. And that extra 7.mill of 5 or so years... Will hurt.

The benefit would be paying him less.
Lakers owe him about 56 mil

It's fair and understandable that he wants out, but he haven't played up to that huge contract of his, so its hard to see how he gets moved without Lakers adding a lot of incentive.

One thing they could consider is to try and flip him for another bad contract and attach a bit of incentive.

Ideas:

Deng + Zubac + Chicago 2nd rounder returned for Mirotic and Christiano Felicio.

That would give the Bulls two assets for taking on Deng. Deng is expensive, but a year less than Felicio. LA would be able to waive Mirotic in 2018 and either trade or stretch Felicio (7yrs, 3.4/yr). LA might have to add a bit extra incentive, though.

Deng + incentive (2nd rounders and/or Zubac and/or Nance) for Demarre Carroll.

Carroll is a better fit and takes one year off Deng's deal.

Deng + incentive (2nd rounders and/or Zubac and/or Nance) for Allen Crabbe.

Crabbe is a much better fit and one of the best 3pt shooters in the game. Similar contract.

Deng + two unprotected 1st rounders to ______ for expiring deal.

Randle to _____ for 1st rounder; 1st rounder and Deng + extra to _______ ; Expirings to LA.

We’ve made numerous money saving moves.
Hell we amnestied Ron Artest.
This organization won’t penny pinch when it comes to building a contender but, we will when it comes to bad investments.

What's Deng's cap hit if we waive and stretch him?

I would not want to lose another young piece as the cost of getting rid of him.
