Thanks for doing the last couple of threads, hopefully we'll be able to get them all between the two of us!

Looking forward to the game tonight, hope they can keep up that defensive energy

5 of the next 6 games are against good teams.  A win in Portland to start off would be nice.

Are Collins and Swanigan playing tonight? I'm curious about those two.

I know defense isn't Lonzo's forte, but he needs to put effort in. Not the kind of effort early in the season where a jump shot goes up and he just blankly stares at it go up while he's slowly back pedaling, but still fails to get back on defense on time. It's Damian Lillard. Put in effort.

Laker bigs (especially Randle) call out screens and switch and close out or contest. Don't just stand there while your getting lit up and then still have an attitude towards the assistants. Play defense.

And stop taking contested 3s that leads to fast breaks on the other end. Dump it in the post and attack the paint. There is no such thing as doing that too often, whereas a contested 3 that leads to a fast break on the other end shouldn't even happen once. Better to let the shot clock expire.

You would think all of these things would be obvious to a professional basketball player but the Lakers need to be constantly reminded every waking second.

This is my biggest issue with Lonzo is that he is lazy at times

I don't think Lonzo's lazy.  I think his fundamentals and footwork on the defensive end is poor at times but what he DOES NOT DO is compound those errors by FOULING.  See the final shot by John Wall.

If you get beat in this scheme, don't over-pursue.  Find the open guy and rotate over to cover him while your teammate switches off.

As for this game, there are a couple of things we need to work on.

1) The BIGS have put in more effort setting screens.  The guards have to do a better job leaving no space.  Their shoulders should rub the forearm or hip of the screener and they have to EXPLODE in that first step to get the BIG to commit to them and create a passing lane for the roll/pop BIG.

2) Keep pressure on teams once we get up.  Keep scoring and force the other team to match it.  Keep pushing the pace and force other teams to play our game, not the other way around.

3)  Don't let either guard (Lillard or McCollum) get hot.  Force everyone else to beat us.  We have to continue to do a concerted effort to identify the scorers and make them work hard for everything.

Want to see less ISO from Ingram and more attack from Lonzo.

Want to see more Randle at C and more Kuz with Lonzo.

This is game is winnable if we play our game and keep up the defensive intensity.
