Yup, i get your point and that would be a possible reasom. but i dont think they will say that when they recruited him at that time, right?
Anyway, all im saying that it was awkward throughout the interview. And when someone asks you if you want to be in this team? there should be no second guessing when its "media day" , lol

They gave him all the available cap room, for one year.  It was his best offer.  Everyone knows what that means.

But hey, $18 million (or whatever) for one year.    It's a good gig, if you can get it.

I'd also note Clarkson looked REALLY uncomfortable addressing his 6th man role.

Didn't look happy at all about it.

(Also could be stressing about where he ends up playing by end of season with rumblings of trading him etc)

Clarkson dude, if Manu was happy with a 6th man role, you have no other choice. Manu was x10 player Clarkson is in his prime (not just talent-wise, think of Manu's impact on the game and you'll get my point), so if he accept that kind of role, Clarson has no right to complain. Hell LO played as 6th man, although he was actually playing starters minutes most of the time.

Jordan Clarkson just isn't very good.  Maybe year 4 he'll finally surprise us but I'm hoping he's not a Laker past this year or the deadline.

Yeah, noticed that too. He really thought he was gonna be a starter and still couldnt accept that he is just a bench player. Hung out too much with swaggy lol

Zubac does not look like 8% body fat...

While he does look much leaner, that doesn't seem like 8% cut

So a gig with Turner then? Which owns nbatv

Praying for  1. Some Cohesion (Ill fitting parts with young bucks, new guys, and those playing for next contracts may muck things up all season) 2. Better Coaching, No More Tanking (Last season was more of the latter but not sure how much of the former we can count on. Walton with something to prove this season as much as any Laker player) 3. Rookie Watch (Hoping Lonzo outshines his daddy (ROTY??), and Kuzma finds minutes and makes a push for all rook 2nd team)

READY FOR SEASON!!!

Serena Winters‏ @SerenaWinters

Day 1. #Lakers

DKrBRC7VAAEuXMq.jpg

Lonzo Ball said it was all defense today: "2 hours of defense."

Lakers training camp

https://twitter.com/...759536456368128

Luke Walton says Ivica Zubac's new nickname is "8 percent."

Why? His body fat is 8%.

Summary of Lakers first practice

1. individual defensive drills
2. team defensive drills
3. transition defense drils
4. rebounding drills

Luke Walton said tonight's Lakers practice (not open to the media) will be non-contact. Then smiled: 'it'll be fun, running tonight.'

Will the Lakers make a statement during National Anthem? Luke said they'll talk about it as a team, before their first preseason game.

Brandon Ingram said one of his teammates that he gets on is Kyle Kuzma "because I see the player that he can be."

Luke Walton: 'Zu asked me, 'Coach do you remember I was at 19% (body fat). I said I know, I was making fun of you for that."

VIDEO: Lonzo Ball after his first day of Lakers training camp!

Brandon Ingram on the best piece of advice he’s gotten from @MagicJohnson: motivate his teammates
DKrgj5WUEAErHcW.jpg

Walton said Lonzo was good defensively at practice - one of his strengths is his length, he's able to contest shots and make people miss.

Brandon Ingram said it's 'crazy' how strong Julius Randle has gotten this summer, says he's been shooting it really well from 3, too.

@LakersReporter

Was told Julius Randle, KCP and Kyle Kuzma stood out in a defensive drill late in practice. Big emphasis on defense all morning from Luke.

Ingram on playing with Lonzo: “With the way he passes the ball it makes guys want to run.“

Lonzo Ball on practice: “A lot of defense. Everybody was competing, which was great. Felt good. Energy was here.”

Ball said the Lakers have “great speed and great length” defensively, just need to focus on learning the rotations.

Lonzo said he wants to keep getting stronger, and could tell why when trying to body up Julius Randle on a drive to the hoop.

Ball thinks he may have more scoring opportunities in the NBA with defenders playing him to pass. Started to see some of that in Vegas.

Luke Walton said he was pleased with the energy and competitiveness defensively.

Brook Lopez (back spasms) didn’t do the drills today. Just got some shots up.

Walton said Zubac looks “great”, has gotten his body fat % down to 8%, when it was at one point in the high teens. Team calling him “8%.”

Walton on Ball today: “Lonzo was good. He’s got length. When he jumps up and contests a shot he can make people miss.“

Walton thinks the culture is starting to move in the right direction: “It’s being built. You could feel it in here all summer long.“
