NBA is investigating the Lakers for tampering with Paul George, per @PeterVecsey1. Pacers' Herb Simon filed charges:

.@PeterVecsey1 says Jeanie Buss, Magic Johnson, Rob Pelinka were interviewed in Paul George tampering investigation:

Tough to prove tampering, but @PeterVecsey1 notes punishment can include taking picks/forbidding LA from signing PG:

Jeanie Buss, Magic, Pelinka have to turn over any correspondence they had w/ Paul George, PG's parents & his agent:

How the hell are they going to prove anything. They have access to George's agent via Randle an DLo.

Another petty move by the Pacers.

Tempered what? Dwight also said at the time his preference was Nets, and Magic traded him to Lakers. Kyrie gave 4 options to Cavs for his prefered choice. Are all those teams tempering?

Nothing to see. Move on.

Pacers just being petty. This is why they got a [expletive] package, because Pritchard was hell bent on not helping anyone in the East, or the Lakers.

Go ahead, file your complaints, do whatever you can, Silver will fine the Lakers 50k (which is the most they can do, and it's highly unlikely they find anything substantial enough to take picks from us)...we're still gonna sign PG next summer, and this makes it even sweeter.

Magic really needs to stop talking so much. The Kimmel thing was pretty bad.

Responding with a tweet about Vecsey might seem cute, but it's not a good look overall for him. He needs to be above this.

Man Golden State had been tampering with KD for years and no one at the Thunder was as salty as Pritchard.

Try up to 5Million and potentially restricting the Lakers from acquiring George:

If the league office's probe can prove the Lakers were guilty of tampering with George while under contract with Indiana, Los Angeles can be punished in several ways, including a loss of draft picks, financial fines up to $5 million, future restrictions on acquiring George and possible suspensions of offending officials.

This could end up bad.

It's going to be hard to prove any type of side agreement when a) he's not a Laker, and b) he's not a free agent yet

In kind of an ironic twist, one of the things Mitch was criticized for was that he played strictly by the rules.

It won't.

Magic, and Rob especially (being a former agent) aren't stupid enough to leave a paper trail of anything incriminating. The fact that they're fully cooperating is only good news.

It looks as though the possible punishments are more severe than I thought...someone put it out there that 50k would be the max fine, but really, the Lakers have nothing to hide and have even said as much.

Tampering goes on daily...this is just Indiana and Pritchard being salty about PG and the Lakers. They got a terrible deal, and they know it...maybe next time, they won't make trades based off feelings.

Had a feeling the Kimmel thing was going to hurt us. Was dumb of magic to say those things and lakers really don't need stuff like this. Hopefully it gets resolved soon.

Was this initiated by the NBA or the Pacers filling a complaint?

it's a poor attempt for the pacers to do this instead of owning up to the real reason why George wanted out
