So 2K just released this...

I wanna know what your thoughts are? I think this is pretty sick!

Would you agree witht hat? I think you can add Jerry West to the team and Ron Artest too! NOT Metta World Peace, but RON was a major role in our 2010 run and he also got some highlight moves in that year also because of his defensive skills!

But just think of that team..

Magic
Kobe

Worthy

Pau

Shaq

I mean this team could be 82-0 for like 50 years in a row LOL..

From left to right you have Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, and Pau Gasol. Of all of those names, Gasol’s presence is probably the one that will surprise the most people, as he’s not likely considered a Laker legend, but he was the No. 2 player on multiple championship teams.

The roster is also heavily loaded with frontcourt players, with Shaq, Kareem, Wilt, Pau, and Worthy, leaving Magic and Kobe as the two key backcourt players. The rest of the roster can be expected to be filled out with wings and guards, considering the frontcourt rotation appears to be on pretty good display here.

There are eight other spots to fill on the Lakers squad, and you’d assume the likes of Jerry West and Elgin Baylor are automatic selections behind this group, leaving six spots and a lot of backcourt help needed. Byron Scott, Michael Cooper, and Derek Fisher also seem like likely choices for the team to fill those backcourt spots, while A.C. Green and Jamaal Wilkes also should have spots on the squad.

My starting 5 would be

Kareem

Elgin

Worthy

Kobe

Magic

Other centers

Mikan

Shaq

And Jerry West is the toughest to leave off the first 5

Praying for  1. Some Cohesion (Ill fitting parts with young bucks, new guys, and those playing for next contracts may muck things up all season) 2. Better Coaching, No More Tanking (Last season was more of the latter but not sure how much of the former we can count on. Walton with something to prove this season as much as any Laker player) 3. Rookie Watch (Hoping Lonzo outshines his daddy (ROTY??), and Kuzma finds minutes and makes a push for all rook 2nd team)

READY FOR SEASON!!!

Shaq can't start over Kareem or Wilt because of his well publicized freethrow issues. Wilt too was a terrible freethrower, so I'd start Kareem at Center for that reason. Comparing Shaq and Wilt is tough...but I'd give Shaq the slight edge because of strength of competition.  Shaq went up against far better players than Wilt did. The race is also tight at SF between Worthy and Baylor. Many would argue that Baylor was probably the overall better player.

Not their Laker career.

Wilt was here less seasons than Pau, I think 4 or 5.

And his monster seasons came pre-laker though Wilt was still a demon on boards and blocks (not even sure if they kept blocks then but he swatted a ton. At least 3 a game) .

Oddly, Wilt left the Lakers, like Shaq, with some very ill feelings towards the team, though different reasons and different owners of team.

Worthy and Elgin arent even close. Seriously.

Its like saying Magic and Norm Nixon are comparable

Shaq vs the backups centers equals 50-60 points I would start Kareem he can at least hit the midrange

The question is where is jerry west he should have been in picture anyways

After west and Baylor I don't know who else will make it ( 3 am thinking to hard )

Wait, are you saying Worthy over Baylor?
I love me some Worthy, but Baylor was the man among men.

I'm going
Kareem
Baylor
Bryant
West
Johnson

and I'll take Wilt over Shaq any day.

ha hachaaa I'm laughing aloud you are a young Laker fan never saw a Wilt play remember he only came out of a "season for eight minutes" he not only dominated but rules were changed to try and handle his prowess. Not even to mention The Cap. Still laughing

I think 2K should stop being lazy on their reskins.

Instead of putting 2015 Kobe and 2016 Pau on the All Time Lakers and just raising their rating, why not actually give us what the prime Kobe and Pau looked like during their tenure with the Lakers

fg4zggacdmgz.png

You would figure the "All-Time" team would feature those players in their prime forms that they were in with the Lakers, and 38 year old Kareem wasn't the prime form of him as a Laker, so tbh it should look more like this

20io9q5mk4hz.png

We should be getting a situation like:

1976 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

1987 Magic Johnson

2001 Shaq

2008 Kobe Bryant

2010 Pau Gasol

1966 Jerry West

1970 Wilt Chamberlain

1963 Elgin Baylor

And so on and so forth with the appropriate model design. Not reskins of the last versions of them 2K used with just increasing the rating. Heck, they could even take the Kareem model from the all-time Bucks team and put Goggles on him and call him "1976 Kareem" if they wanted and gave Kobe short hair and called him "2008 Kobe" .

Heck, I'd prefer that over a reskin of 2015 Kobe and 2017 Pau Gasol put in there and it be called the "All-Time" versions, just cause 2K went into the roster creator, raised their ratings and cloned them.

"Bryant had come to rage against the idea that Howard's clownish disposition could overtake the locker room, the Lakers' culture, and had warned Howard that he would never, ever let it happen."

The best way to look at the Lakers is by Position instead of Starting Lineups. I'll just do a Top 3 by Position:

Point Guard:

1. Magic

2. Nick Van Exel

3. Norm Nixon

Shooting Guard:

1. Kobe

2. West

3. Eddie Jones

Small Forward:

1. Baylor

2, Worthy

3. Silk

Power Forward:

1. Pau Gasol

2. Robert Horry

3. AC Green

Center:

1. Kareem

2, Shaq

3. Wilt

I'd go

PG: Magic

SG: Kobe

SF: Baylor

PF: Gasol

C: Kareem

I think Baylor is a better overall player than Worthy pretty clearly, and Kareem is always ranked above Shaq in most center/all time rankings so you have to go with him. The Sky hook was unguardable, and he was pretty strong in his own right.

If we don't get to have prime Kareem though, then I'd go with Shaq.
