I actually agree with this.

Lopez isn't a great rebounder, so Julius should have more opportunities. Also, given that we are looking to "grab and go" i think teams might send fewer guys to crash the offensive glass and let everyone else get back on defense.

HOT TAKE: Julius Randle will put up 15-12-5 this season.

Absolutely possible.   Rebounding will give him a chance to score.  Randle is going to be like the bank robber when asked "why do you rob banks?"  He replied "because that's where the money is!".  The more he rebounds, the faster we will play.  The faster we play, the more we score.

HOT TAKE:  Lakers will be top 5 in the NBA in 3pters shot, 3pters made and 3pt% this year.

Top 5 in 3s taken, sure.

3s made, not a chance.

That's not a hot take.

They better do that.

LOL!  You must have faith!  Speak it into existence!

I think everyone will see their 3pt% go up because they will get better shots.  The faster pace will allow a lot of transition 3s which a lot easier to hit because you're basically walking into your shot in rhythm.

Top 5 in 3-point field goal is not that farfetched. Mavs were the 5th team last season and had 878, Lakers were 19th with 730.

KCP ~ 180

BLo ~ 140

Ball ~ 130

Ingram ~ 120

Clarkson ~ 110

Kuzma ~ 80

Randle ~ 70 (highly optimistic)

That makes it 830.

Lonzo won't average more than 5 assists

Randle won't average a double double

We will win 33 games this season

Lakers will make the playoffs or be within 3 games of the 8th spot.  Speaking it into existence...

Clarkson will lead us in ppg

The reason why no one has responded is because that's not a hot take.  Considering our bench, that's highly possible.  Clarkson and Nance will be expected to do a LOT off the bench...if Kuzma doesn't hit the rookie wall, him too.  If the starters play the way Luke wants them to, the scoring will be evenly distributed among them (at least the 2-5).  APG should go up a notch for all of them as well.

Bench will likely play as fast or faster than the starters...lot less structure and lower competition.

Brook should put up a smooth 20 PPG like he's been doing his whole career, so I don't see Clarkson leading us in scoring thankfully.

Brook

Ingram

Pope

Randle

I'd place our scoring in that order.

Brook

Ingram

Pope

Randle

I'd place our scoring in that order.

Clarkson started 19 games last year and averaged 14.7ppg (29.2mpg)

Randle started 73 games, averaged 13.2ppg (28.8mpg)

Even if Clarkson doesn't start any games this year, he is likely to average more ppg than Randle...especially since he (Clarkson) and Nance will be the primary options off the bench and Randle will have to compete with KCP, Ingram and Lopez for shots.

If Clarkson is going to compete for 6th man of the year, he's likely going to have to average at least 15ppg...that's on the high end of what I think Randle will be capable of at PF.  Small ball C?  Maybe more but I'm not ready to add those in until I see how Luke handles the big man rotation and distribution of minutes...

I just don't see JC getting the PT or the role needed to win 6th man of the year...

They need to move him to get those 2 max slots.  I think getting him shine will be a priority...especially as the leader of the Bench Mob.

OK...here's one for you guys.

Kuzma has a better rookie season than Ingram did

Praying for  1. Some Cohesion (Ill fitting parts with young bucks, new guys, and those playing for next contracts may muck things up all season) 2. Better Coaching, No More Tanking (Last season was more of the latter but not sure how much of the former we can count on. Walton with something to prove this season as much as any Laker player) 3. Rookie Watch (Hoping Lonzo outshines his daddy (ROTY??), and Kuzma finds minutes and makes a push for all rook 2nd team)

READY FOR SEASON!!!

Not a hot take.  Ingram struggled even in SL.  This is to be expected.

Hot take: KCP will have a career year.

With an ability to defend the 1 and 2, shoot 3s off the catch and to some degree run the pick-and-roll, i think he's close to a perfect fit with Lonzo. It's also a career year for the guy and he isn't really battling for minutes with anyone else in the back-court as Clarkson could be on the trade block and the other guys are rookie Hart and Tyler Ennis.

I'd say in 35mpg he'll put up about 15-17 ppg, 4rpg, 4apg and 2 steals while shooting career highs from the field and the 3pt line.
