Definitely not, the West only got tougher.

This. If we were an east team, I would bet on the Lakers for that 8th seed. West is insane now, and looks that Melo is coming to Houston.

Of course people don't think they can make the playoffs. They want to win the title, not to make the playoffs. j/k

OT: Depends on a lot of things, but mainly defense.

I'll go with no on making playoffs. Using Vegas bookmakers as my source cause they know way more information than we have to. Here's their over/under for win totals next season:

1. Warriors 67.5
2. Houston 55.5
3. Spurs 55.5
4. Min 46.5
5. OKC 46.5
6. NO 43.4
7. Den 42.5
8. Griz 42.5

Others:
Utah: off (I think they still contend for 8th seed)
Port: 38.5
Lakers: 36.5
Clips: 34.5 (I think they fall but not that far)
Dal: 34.5
Sac: off (not sure why their off the board)
Suns: 25.5

Top five is pretty secure. So that leaves 7 teams fighting for spots 6, 7, 8. Not sure Lakers will have a +16 game improvement (which they'll need just to get to 42 wins to contest for a spot).

No.

I agree...could that change?  Yes.

I firmly believe that if Cousins doesn't sign his extension with NOP by DEC, Brook Lopez will be a Pelican and DMC will be in the Purple and Gold by February...if we are anywhere near .500 by then, we have a legit chance to make the playoffs.

Can't see that without giving up serious assets. Theoretically Clarkson and Randle could be sold as positive acquisition for that team but idk if that's enough to get Boogie. Boston has some pieces left.

And we won't take back long term money

NOP won't let Cousins walk for nothing and Brook Lopez is our best trade asset outside of Ball/Ingram.  If Cousins asks to be traded or indicates he will leave, this is possible straight up.  Lopez is still a top 5 Center and a potential AllStar...under the right circumstances, it's an easy sell.

I don't see that happening.

I think the only move you'll get is Clarkson and Deng shipped somewhere for cap relief next summer.

You think Clarkson is enough to move Deng?  That's a combined 30M going out with 2 years left on both after this year.  Not sure anyone's taking that and giving us cap space.

Thanks for the increase in "likes" we have.  I haven't run out of them in recently.  Much appreciated.

My darkhorse WC playoff pick is Kings.

Is it possible 3 or 4 teams from last years playoffs fail to get in this year?

Memphis?

Utah?

Clippers?

Blazers?

(my hunch is Clippers stay in 5-8 position)

You'd think Nuggets and Minny sneak in this year.

Praying for  1. Youngsters Ballin (Didn't really happen on a consistent basis at all) 2. Miracle Trade (Also didn't happen. And we traded our best player for chump change) 3. Kick Ass Rooks (Zubac exceeded, Ingram tried but disappointed overall)

READY FOR SEASON TO BE OVER!!!

Clippers are a 35 win team imo. I'd bet on us making the playoffs before they do.

If we make the playoffs this year, I'm expecting you to call for a statue of LaVar outside of Staples.

I doubt we make it, I just think we have a better chance than the Clippers.

I actually agree on the cousins thing. I mean

Lopez, Randle and clarkson is a good haul for them. Keeps them competitive

If the miracle happens, haters will say it did because of Randle's or Ingram's improvement. Haters will be haters.

No, I actually see the West turning out something like this

Western Conference:

Top 4

Golden State Warriors (68 - 14)
Oklahoma City Thunder (61 - 21)
San Antonio Spurs (59 - 23)
Houston Rockets (58 - 24)

5-8

Minnesota T'Wolves (51 - 31)
New Orleans Pelicans (50 - 32)
Portland Trail Blazers (48 - 34)
Denver Nuggets (42 - 40)

-------
Los Angeles Clippers (40 - 42)
Memphis Grizzlies (38 - 44)
Los Angeles Lakers (35 - 47)
Dallas Mavericks (33 - 49)
Utah Jazz (31 - 51)
Phoenix Suns (27 - 55)
Sacramento Kings (23 - 59)
