The article mentions the ties with Pelinka being his former agent.

Not sure how I feel about this considering his play only recently ramped up during the second half of this season.

Likely just one of those situations in which the Laker's franchise is thrown in to increase attention and clicks.

Ehhh, he had a resurgence in Miami but if LA is the team that pays him big bucks they haven't learned a thing

How much are you willing to spend on a decent player? Better yet, how much will the Lakers be willing to spend on him?

Yup.  Let's find this years Dion Waiters.  A decent player who had a down year and give him a 2 year prove it deal with an option on the 2nd year.  This is the year we need to go back to bargain hunting like we did with Nick Young originally, Ed Davis, etc.

This is the year we need to find a few diamonds in the rough and then some...

Like Wesley Johnson. It was unfortunate that the Clippers stole him away from the Lakers.

I don't mind looking for diamonds in the rough but I don't think Waiters sees himself that way...more like future AllStar.  We need players that love playing the right way.  Go after guys like that and you can start to see the team come together around this offense.

No more like Chuck Nevitt, Travis Knight or Adam Morrison.

After rethinking my position on this, if they can Clarkson then it may not be the worst thing in the world to kick the tires on Waiters depending on his market.  He improved a great deal last year and can really play and he's much better player than Clarkson is.  Learned how to be a ball mover in Miami and big shot maker when it counted.

Im always leery of players that suddenly improve coincidentally on contract year... that said I like Waiters but I don't want to over pay for Waiters but you're right SMOKES, Waiters became a solid player in MIA.

Im leery of it as well but with Magic/Rob trying to build that Pat Riley like culture here that helped shape Waiters this past year and the offense that Luke is implementing he may not be a bad signing at all.  If they can move Clarkson into cap space on another team it's worth a shot IF he doesnt get too expensive.  14-15M would be ideal.  Anything over that is just way too much.
