What do you mean who cares? If you're a Lakers fan you absolutely care about an event that resulted in us being the bottom feeder of the mother [expletive]ing west.

I cared at the time. Stern isn't in charge anymore and Mitch isn't our GM. This was years ago! We have two very solid prospects and the 2nd pick in the NBA Draft. It's done and is completely irrelevant at this moment in time.

Looking back, the veto made no sense from a business standpoint. Was making the Clippers relevant worth throwing away a Kobe vs LeBron finals series much like we are seeing Bron vs Curry right now? On top of that, CP3 and Kobe could potentially have been the greatest backcourt in the history of the game even if it was only for 3-4 years. The benefits of allowing the trade far outweighed the benefits, if there were any, of vetoing the trade.

If you were Mitch and Stern was lying wouldn't you speak up? I sure as hell would. Lay it all out and finally say my peace. I hope to hear from Mitch soon. If not he may have panicked and I wouldn't really have blamed him. The league jerked Mitch, the lakers for one. I will never forget it. Never have we seen something like this on this level. Then take the next deal to the clippers. Woweee.

Stern panicked when he realized that if Kobe/CP3/Dwight formed a team that LeBron would probably retire with maybe one ring  :D

In hindsight that team still loses to the 11/12 and 12/13 Heat.

CP3 being heavy ball dominant w/ Kobe, Kobe's defense falling off, Dwight being Dwight.  I just don't see how they beat prime Lebron, healthy Wade for those 2 and Bosh stretching the floor.

Kobe's stamina fell more than his defensive ability

Sure.  At that age he needed to reserve more energy but he did a lot of gambling and broke the team defensive scheme a lot that year.  Kobe always gambled but when the whole team sucks at D outside of Dwight at that point it's hard to overcome.

I just think Dwight would have been too huge an obstacle to overcome.

Definitely after all the BS he dealt with. We may never hear from him again. Mitch should post his explanation here on Laker Nation or perhaps the NBA Facebook or twitter pages. ESPN is a joke for not having a 30 for 30 on this whole saga.

Busty, the saga ain't over yet.

If the Lakers ever get back to the top of the heap, that's when you'll see something made.
