you never know. don't knock out an idea. there are some gm's that do the craziest things. (see mitch with deng and mozgov) lol

Look man...this "opinion" stuff is getting out of hand. There needs to be some logical thought process when posting or else the validity of the forum gets tarnished.

My son's opinion is that we should eat cookies for every meal...does that sound like a good idea?

If I want to argue illogical nonsense and 2K like trades, I'll call my 9 year old nephew. I understand that a lot of what posted is due to boredom considering the fact that post seem to much better during the season and training camp.

There are illogical moves and there are moves that shouldn't be discussed.

Russell is a 20 year old prospect.
Even with the pick let's say Ball or Fultz...
Ball
Clarkson
Ingram
Randle
Zubac

And 50 million to spend.

You think that's going to attract a star FA or two?

Kids?

That's a fantasy.

Even if you hate Russell it makes more sense to trade him next season when you he t another year to evaluate and another year to shed of one of the undesirable contracts.

For those who don't understand the game though. Our players won't be attractive until those guys are expiring anyone.

In Ingram's year of 22( Greek Freak age now)
Deng and Mosgov will be 30 million dollars of expiring contracts.

That's about the time where the core will be old enough to play with the big boys

This is unknown and to be determined, it can go south...

Just start Deng and Moz and ride them to the finals!

No. It's not. They will either be the players we hope or they won't. But we definitely won't know before that

I think i'm more in the mold of:

Lets not trade any of our young guys this summer/next season.

Lets see what '18 FA can bring to us.

I'm willing to part with clarkson or randle at most for some key guys.. don't have to be super elite.

If we lose the pick:

1. Understand that at some point, we are giving up the pick and that we've gotten by two years now without paying for Jim Buss' costly mistake.

2. We have another first rounder (#28)...make the best pick possible here.

3. Probably tank one more year and then go lotto next year with PG13 and another FA coming onboard next summer.

The main goal is to win a title and with that in mind we are much better off tanking AGAIN if we lose the pick. There are very few FAs that we realistically can get that'll make any major difference long term anyway, so we might as well spend the season developing the guys and try to find out who is going to be the main pieces going forward. Then hope we can land a guy like Ayton, Doncic, Bamba or Porter who can grow with the other guys.

i understand all of what you just said, i  just cannot go through another season with (wanting) to  lose out in hopes to getting another young kid that everybody hopes will turn the Lakers around. i just can't. i just have to respectfully disagree with this thought process. it is time to make a new blueprint away from the tanking frame of mind

On the bright side look how good the Sixers are thanks to tanking...

Just surrender and take it like the rest of them, they have given it up to GS and Bron... if you give in like the rest, its less painful.

Lets just hope we keep the top 3 so this wont be an issue.

Obviously we have no control over the ping-pong balls but keeping the pick would be great and landing the 1st could be a game changer for this franchise!

Keeping the pick gives us flexability and options, plenty of wiggle room for Magic and Pelinka to work with...
