Jerry West was interested in returning to Lakers/Jeanie said no

Jerry West was interested in returning to the Lakers, where son Ryan has carved out a useful role with the old and new regime, but, though Jeanie Buss will forever revere Jerry, he didn't match her vision for the future, according to NBA sources.

SMH. Okay say we can somehow agree that Jim and Mitch didn't do enough with the time they had. But how do you justify choosing Magic over Jerry West?!

In truth Jerry has health issues and would be excellent as a counsel or advisor. And continue to groom his son but looks like the FO is heading in a different direction

What vision does Jerry West instill that Jeanie doesn't see compatible? A winning one?

So what is the scenario here?

Jerry calls up Jeanie and says he wants to return to Lakers, and Jeanie answers no, we do not share same vision? If things were that simple.

Sorta "makes sense". Jerry and Phil had beef, Jeanie probably took Phil's side, thus in Jeanie's book, Jerry probably had a "different vision" than her

Weird.

I still can't see West backstabbing his protege Mitch in the back like that.

Or taking some glory (let's hope) from his son or diminishing his sons position

Praying for  1. Youngsters Ballin (Didn't really happen on a consistent basis at all) 2. Miracle Trade (Also didn't happen. And we traded our best player for chump change) 3. Kick Ass Rooks (Zubac exceeded, Ingram tried but disappointed overall)

READY FOR SEASON TO BE OVER!!!

Maybe it wasn't as nasty as they are making it sound. Jerry offer s his services if they were needed and Jeanie respectfully declined stating the lakers are attempting new methods

More corroboration for Jeanie's incompetence...

Jeanie's vision for the future is, "come join us, we're the Lakers."

Hence hiring Pelinka, who likely sold her and Magic on his connections with players around the league and how he can bring some stars in.

Well then. They're in for a rude awakening. Hopefully within that they understand that the young guys need to continue to develop and be put in positions to do so. Didn't watch Pelinka's press conference, but I do know that he's very eager to get started on free agency.

Whatever the case is, I support the new guys and pray they do a good job. Much more anxious with these new guys than I was with Jim/Mitch...I get the feeling that they're far more reactionary when it comes to the young guys.
