Damn that is crazy, she has no real leg to stand on with that. It's sad that the premier franchises ownership has turned into a soap opera. If Jim and Johnny get their way everything that has been done can be undone

Thing is Jim buss' declaration that he'd step down in 3 years isn't a legally binding arrangement so in reality I don't think Jeanie has the clout to do this

Jim buss could be ousted im sure but it'd have to likely be with some sort of agreement by a board of directors

So speaking from complete ignorance of what happened behind closed doors I have a feeling that didn't happen and Jim buss may have license to fight back

Magic himself may bolt due to not wanting to deal with this. In all honesty the legal fight for the team was destined to happen. Jeanie and Jim were never going to be able to hold the team together long term

This happens quite often when parents die. Kids fight over the estate

MDA stated it best...

“I really liked working with Mitch Kupchak and Jim Buss; they weren’t the problem,” said Houston Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni, the former Knicks coach who resigned as Lakers head coach in April 2014 after two seasons. “When you have a superstar of the magnitude of Kobe (Bryant), and he retires. And…they had tried to make the trade for Chris Paul (in Dec. 2011 that was blocked by the NBA), and they had it, and that would’ve (kept them successful) another 10 years, and it didn’t work out."

It's all gone sour now and best thing to do is sell the team.  The longer this plays out, the longer a dark cloud will hover over the franchise and it will certainly make free agents rethink their decision.

Well this all got a little crazy. Really don't like how the president of our team is causing this much drama. Jim might have not been the right person for the operations job but Jeanie definitely isn't the right person for president. Wish they would sell the team or at least get non family to fill the president job.

Not a good look for sure but this isn't really unexpected.  Ramona hinted at it last week.

  1. Jim Buss had retained a lawyer but provisions governing the family trust very clearly gave Jeanie Buss the authority to make these moves.

  2.

This was a very long, involved process that Jeanie has been leading. It was her decision, not Magic's, to fire Kupchak Jim and JB

I guess in hind sight it was naive to think Jim wouldn't put up a fight.  But from the articles it seems like Jim and his older brother don't really have a case.

sigh...how the mighty have fallen

i knew things wouldn't be great for awhile after jerry passed, but i thought it would be getting better by now...it almost seems as if things are getting worse.  this is not what a prospective free agent wants to see in the front office

How much you bet we see another Ding hit article on Jim in the next week or 2. I think the recent one about sacre was put up so when this news hit people blamed Jim.

Its Jeanie Jim their sister and another brother. Those are Dr. Buss kids with his wife. Then he had a girlfriend and that's where the two 20 something year old Busses who run the scouting department and d league team.

In a perfect world Jeanie would be following Jim out the door and the Buss family would eventually sell the team.

Back to reality and I must admit that to a certain degree Jeanie is winning me over by default.  I don't like her but I'm sick of all this drama.  I don't care who won anymore let's just move forward as a franchise.

All we need to know. Chaos reigns supreme. Time for all these children to sell the team. Act like adults. It's like Frank McCourt. Jesus.

This is why you dont let your kids take over by default. Chargers have the same issue.
