Wait.  Again it's the same thing over and over that has to be explained.  Come to find out PG13 isn't eligible for the Designated Vet Extension so him leaving could be a real thing for ANY team he's on.  If Lakers trade for him today they have to be good enough to keep him from bolting in 2018.

If he wants to play in LA that bad in 2018 he will sign here then.  I'd rather add him to this mix than trade for him and have to do a lot of extra work to convince him to resign.

Me too. But don't you think this is the too calculated move that Mitch was know for and the reason for his departure? Pelinka is a risk taker imo.

Come on man...you know he ain't signing here is 2018. This is the same thing we say about every player that we have trade rumors for and they never end up signing here. If we want PG than we need to get him right now. If not, than he will most likely never be a Laker.

I'd rather address other roster issues but this idea that you shouldn't trade for him because he may sign here is silly. You either want him here or not, if you want him then trade for him.

Which can only be done if the proper pieces are placed around them...  Not additional draft picks that will add 19-20 year olds to the roster.

I know...

Everyone has the idea that we should be rebuilding with the notion that the 1st round pick is guaranteed... IT'S NOT, there's no reason to be tanking or avoiding moves that could potentially improve this team, with or without the pick in mind.   The fact that we are basing our future solely upon a coin toss is not good business.

Russell and Ingram may have all the potential in the world, but at the moment, much of it is being minimized with how the team is currently constructed.  The Lou trade is somewhat of a start that should open up more backcourt minutes, but more moves need to be made...

Magic was on record stating that there are numerous players on this team that all do the same job... If you know this, then make the proper moves Magic...

straight up, I never understood this mentality of not trading for proven stars when we can get them as a free agent. Did we not experience the last few years with the Mozgovs and Boozers of the world?

I mean sure, had we had another proven All-Star on the roster or a team with a few established players capable of maintaining a record above .500 then yes you can make an argument for waiting.

However, when you're on your 4th consecutive year of playing losing basketball and are one of the 3 worst teams in the league, there's no reason to sit and wait for a player to fall into your lap.  A year from now, whether we retain the top 3 pick or not, this team won't be much different and George likely finds no reason to join.  Lebron may have returned home, but at least he had an incentive with Kyrie and Love dangling in the background.

You people are crazy.

Definitely wait.

If we keep our pick we could get Lonzo Ball. Then free agents would come running and we could keep all our young players.

The pick is the key.

FAs dont come for rookies.

We'd have Russell and Ingram developing. Lonzo Ball who could very well be the next Curry.

We could play Russell/Ball/Ingram/George/Randle

that lineup in 2 years could contend.

Also LeBron came for Irving and a young Cleveland core to leave the aging Heat.
