No to Brook

Yes to Zu who is a few years away but unless we make 6 or 7 big moves in the next year, so are we.

Maybe we could do it with 4-5 moves.

Maybe.

And by that i mean competing at the top of the conference, not just squeaking into playoffs the last week of season

Praying for  1. Some Cohesion (Ill fitting parts with young bucks, new guys, and those playing for next contracts may muck things up all season) 2. Better Coaching, No More Tanking (Last season was more of the latter but not sure how much of the former we can count on. Walton with something to prove this season as much as any Laker player) 3. Rookie Watch (Hoping Lonzo outshines his daddy (ROTY??), and Kuzma finds minutes and makes a push for all rook 2nd team)

READY FOR SEASON!!!

If I'm Brooklyn I do it.
At this point why not.
I like Randle a lot though and Brooklyn is screwed

and have to resign Randle to a pretty large contract!

This deal makes no sense for Brooklyn

Then why we have to keep Randle? To give him another fantastic contract, starting at $ 18 mil a year? No way Jose. We need to trade Randle, Clarkson, Brewer and at least one of our cancers - Deng or Mozgov. We have to keep Russell, Ingram and Zubac and include anyone else in the trade packages. I don't care if we trade all of our first and second round pics, this summer, if we get rid of Deng and Mozgov. I am sick and tired of this tanking. I need to sit and watch a Lakers game from the beginning to the end. So, please, don't ask provocative questions like..."Why the Nets will do this deal? " or " The deal makes no sense for Brooklyn." And don't forget that Magic and Rob can find third or even fourth team to make this kind of a trades. If Brooklyn does not need to take Randle, other teams may like to pay him. So, there is always chance to move a player. You bring here Jerry West and he will find a ways to deal Deng and Mozgov and anyone, we don't need at this moment.

That deal makes so much sense, but it easier to argue - No.

Wouldn't it be easier to agree?

Dude I've been preaching to trade Randle since the beginning of the season. That doesn't make this trade realistic.

Just for fun, if Pelinka and Magic wants a quick rebuild, how about this:

Assumption: We land the #1 pick.

Trade 1: #1 pick + Jordan Clarkson to Chicago for Jimmy Butler.

Trade 2: Julius Randle, Houston pick and Mozzy to Brooklyn for Brook Lopez.

Trade 3: Brandon Ingram and Corey Brewer for Paul George (we are under the cap so we can do this, but he'd have to push for this to happen as well)

Move 4: With 9M in cap space left, we fill out the back-court by adding Patty Mills from San Antonio and try to extend Nick Young.

Move 5: Round out roster rotation by using room exception to Matt Barnes and sign a couple of veterans.

Lineup:

Starters: Russell – Butler – PG13 – Nance – Lopez.

Bench: Mills – Young – Barnes – Deng – Black – Zubac

The next Brewer.

They could throw behind the back passes to each other all game long!

Brewer keeping it real.

The notion that we are somehow gonna be worse that this is mind boggling.

One thing people loved about Clarkson in his rookie season was that he was mad consistent. Not only production-wise, but effort-wise. At that time we didn't have Randle. We still had garbage players playing garbage, but Clarkson brought that effort at all games. Was he playing out of position? Maybe. Was he asked to do too much in his rookie season? Maybe. Didn't matter. That is why fans are furious - how could we actually go two steps backwards in a season we were supposed to improve?

Of all the young players we have, Clarkson has the most credit to use IMO. He was drafted from #46 - didn't matter. He became All Rookie 1st team. And he is on a cap friendly contract for 3 more years.

Despite all his inconsistency, I'll cut Randle some slack too. His actual FG% improved and his assist rate has improved.

Russell has done nothing to show for it. For every 25 point, 7 triple game he could bring every few games, Randle has triple doubles and Clarkson has season-long efficiency. That is why it makes no sense to get attached to him this much. If we keep the pick and draft a PG, I take my chances to start fresh with him. It is not like we are gonna get much worse than a 20-win team.
