Lakers are currently meeting with former NBA center Larry Sanders, who hasn't played in the league since December 2014. He is 28 years old.

Sanders' best season was 2012-13, when he averaged 9.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.8 blocked shots for Milwaukee.

Lakers are at the max roster size of 15 and would have to waive a player if they signed Larry Sanders. Regular season ends April 12.

Read that his workout with the Celtics wasn't very impressive.

I wonder the Lakers have a real chance of signing him since Sanders currently lives in Los Angeles and comes to watch the Lakers every game. I don't think he wants to leave LA. And he's good friends with Nick.

There's a report from a couple days ago that his agent said a he has a offer on the table. I wonder if it's the Lakers. And will we be seeing Larry Sanders in a Laker uniform after the All-Star break?

If everything goes accordingly, Larry Sanders will return to the NBA in about two weeks.

What’s more, he could be returning to a team that is bound for the playoffs.

Sanders, the former Milwaukee Bucks’ starting center who shocked the basketball world by deciding to quit playing in 2015, recently auditioned for a half dozen teams over a two-day period in Miami.

The 6-foot-11 Sanders went through a series of drills and then conducted interviews for the NBA officials in attendance. Sanders openly discussed his past on-court and off-court issues as well as his desire to resume his pro career.

“It went very well,’’ said veteran agent Joel Bell, who represents Sanders. “They (NBA officials) had as much time as they wanted to work on certain drills with Larry or to talk to him.’’

Sanders, 28, was the 15th overall selection in the 2010 draft. Regarded as a project coming into the league, Sanders gradually honed his game to the point where he emerged as one of the elite rim protectors in the NBA. He averaged 9.5 rebounds and 2.8 blocked shots for the 2012-2013 season, in addition to scoring 9.8 points a game.

That strong showing earned Sanders a four-year, $44 million contract from the Bucks. But after several missteps, and an open admission by Sanders that he wasn’t mentally into the game anymore, the Bucks and Sanders agreed to a buyout.

Using the league’s then “stretch provision’’, Sanders agreed to a seven-year deal that paid him $1.9 million annually through the 2021-2022 season.

Sanders will continue to collect that amount from the Bucks even if he now signs with a team. And Bell was confident that will happen sooner than later.

“A lot of teams have expressed interest in Larry,’’ Bell said. “We already have one offer on the table. We should have something done at some point, probably by the All-Star break.’’

The start of the All-Star break is the middle of next week. The All-Star Game will be played on Feb. 19 in New Orleans.

Bell wouldn’t disclose the six teams that attended Sanders’ workout in Miami or the team which has made the offer.

However, an NBA executive, whose team is a lock for the playoffs, confirmed his team had a representative at Sanders’ workout and felt Sanders acquitted himself well. That same source said two other playoff-bound teams, which he wouldn’t reveal, checked out Sanders in Miami.

Hmm Sanders is that guy who looks more like a flash in the pan than legitimate star.

However I don't mind the Lakers moving T-Rob to sign Sanders.   After 2 years out of the league he'd be at about that spot now anyway till he worked his way back into shape and timing.

MWP on the team would help with Sanders from a mental health perspective.

Just an FYI, the guy apparently worked out for the celtics recently and they said his mind is right but he is way out of shape and out of practice to play in the NBA. We have plenty of big men and I think this mostly just due diligence by the FO to see if he has anything left.

Luke talking about Sanders already

Luke Walton on Larry Sanders, who met with Lakers today. "He was a great rim protector, great rebounder."

Alright so if Sanders is in...who is out?

Huertas is the one that needs to be traded or cut.

So his best season was 10,10, and 3 blocks?

Bet Zu is at 10/10/2 next season if he gets 28 minutes a game

The Moz dilemma

Praying for  1. Some Cohesion (Ill fitting parts with young bucks, new guys, and those playing for next contracts may muck things up all season) 2. Better Coaching, No More Tanking (Last season was more of the latter but not sure how much of the former we can count on. Walton with something to prove this season as much as any Laker player) 3. Rookie Watch (Hoping Lonzo outshines his daddy (ROTY??), and Kuzma finds minutes and makes a push for all rook 2nd team)

READY FOR SEASON!!!
