Cavs dont have anything to make a trade work for Calderon.  They are probably waiting on him to get bought out.

They probably got a few trade exceptions. Not saying that that is enough though.

They have nothing to give us.  Maybe their 1st round pick but that's at 29-30th likely.

We'll give you Moz and Calderon Lebron.

I don't even think Calderon is worth that late first. I'd take it though.

Even with their trade exceptions they dont have enough to absorb Calderon and I dont believe they can trade their 1st for next year b/c of the Stepian rule.  2019 was traded in the Korver deal.  Kay Felder may be the only piece they'd part with and even his salary can't offset with the trade exceptions

It amuses me to see Cavs desperate.

They are the only team actually trying to do whatever to compete with GS.  This is why Im not in a rush for the Lakers be making moves to try to win now.  As long as that core is in tact any team w/o Lebron and some other top player is futile

Makes for a great argument. He is 33 and soon will be the dinosaur while the Lakers young bucks, if still together, will be part of the new wave of title contenders.

Of course this is all with the hopes of each player progressing and playing up to their expectations.

Not SOON. Championship cores are usually at that 27-34 range.
We are substantially younger. But at 24ish(Russell,Ingram) the core will be a nice collection of talent

Calderon doesn't get any minutes and hasn't looked impressive when he's gotten playing time. But now the Cavs are interested in him and everyone is all "The Cavs have nothing of value to us" like Calderon actually has legit trade value.

The Cavs are above the cap and they dont really have any way to make salaries match without giving up 2-3 players or more.

Offer them Calderon for Kyrie and hope that their GM just got hit in the head with a sledgehammer prior to answering the phone.

Always so funny to see that idiot Dan Gilbert the greatest hypocrite.  He was crying against the Lakers getting Chris Paul, but if the shoe is on the other foot, forget about it.  Hope the best PG they can get is Sedale Threat.

I think you need to look into the context of the statement rather than trying to be funny.  The Cavs don't have any young players or players AVAILABLE via trade that fit what the Lakers are trying to do.  Salary wise Calderon and Frye could be fit trade but Cavs aren't giving up Frye.  The rest of the players after Frye are making vet minimums.  You can't trade a 7M dollar salary for a vet minimum w/o cap space to absorb it or trade exception to help.  Cavs don't have enough.

The only player on their roster that makes sense for LA that they would consider moving would be Kay Felder and he's making like 550k this year.  He might not even be an NBA prospect.

Calderon doesn't get any minutes and hasn't looked impressive when he's gotten playing time. But now the Cavs are interested in him and everyone is all "The Cavs have nothing of value to us" like Calderon actually has legit trade value.

From the rumors it just sounds like the Cavs want us to buy Calderon out but I'm not really sure what our incentive would be on that. D-Lo has gotten injured a couple times now and even though Calderon hasn't contributed much in terms of impactful minutes on the floor, we'd still need a backup guard (since Huertas would play backup).

I just don't see why we'd do that without trying to get something back in return. But yeah....there's nothing they can really give us.
