LeBron wants some guard help and some feel trading Williams may be the only way to move the Lakers forward.  I'm not saying I agree with that viewpoint, but what about this deal for the helluvit?  And let's say this is post an Anthony / Love deal going through.

Just looking for calm viewpoints not inane lashing out at anyone (and yes I know Mozgov was already in Cleveland but maybe that familiarity would be welcome, who knows).

Lakers send: Mozgov and Williams

Cavs send: Thompson and Shumpert

New Laker lineup:
PG: Russell / Calderon / Huertas

SG: Shumpert / Clarkson

SF: Young / Ingram / Deng

PF: Randle / Nance / World Peace

C: Thompson / Zubac / Black

New Cavs lineup:
PG: Irving / Williams / Felder

SG: Smith / Korver / Jones / McRae

SF: Anthony / Jefferson / Liggins

PF: James / Frye

C: Mozgov / Andersen

Lebron is close to TT and Shumpert I believe. If he wasn't this deal would make sense. Lou is just the player Cavs need. And TT over Mozgov? Any day of the week.

I think I'm just looking for any way to jettison Mozgov.  Can't stand the guy.

Yeah the closeness thing could get in the way.

Between Williams and Anthony and Smith maybe coming back for the playoffs that team would be highly energized.

I don't think we can get rid of Mozgov unless a team is super desperate for improvement like the deal you mentioned. Or we would have to package Mozgov with one of the young guys. He's becoming such a headache making me actually miss Kwame Brown.

(His hands are worse than Kwame's)

I think this is a bad deal for both sides, more so for CLE b/c it effs with the chemistry of a winning team.  You dont move a key guy like Tristan for Mozgov who cant survive on teh floor vs GS

Cool, just curious to see what others' opinions were on it.

Messing around with the trade machine on ESPN and figured I'd post something.

P.S. - Kwame was a better defender believe it or not.  It was just everything offensively the kid couldn't do jack squat with.

being that bron said what he said...i see where you're coming from.  why he said what he said?  no clue

don't think this is a completely unrealistic deal though if the cavs are looking for help on offense, the lakers wouldn't be willing giving up lou for nothing.

and yes, kwame could defend, probably why he lasted as long as he did...just had absolutely no hands, and his post game was sad and awkard

The PER ratings (and I know its not the be-all end-all) rate the deal as giving the Cavs +8 wins and the Lakers -3.

So it has some statistical weight in favor of the Cavs to it.  However, chemistry does matter.

It doesn't give much in return to the Lakers, but I think it lets the Mozgov mistake go away quickly and gives you a  bit more athleticism in the middle or front court.  Considering Nick has a player option at the end of this season, you will more than likely lose him anyway.  So injecting some medial talent at the 2-guard right now may not be the worst idea.

Strictly based on value, i think If we could pull of a deal like this, we should jump on it. Shump and TT would really solidify our defense and at 26 and 25 they fit our young core a bit better than Lou and Mozzy (both 30). I dont think the Cavs would do it though.

Although this is a fair trade, it isn't a logical one.

Lebron does want a playmaker but I'm not sure Lou Williams is the type of playmaker he had in mind.  Also, them swapping Tristan for Moz doesn't accomplish much.

I'd do it as a Laker fan but I don't think King James pulls the trigger being that it's his front office.

I'm not seeing how this benefits Cleveland.

As for the Lakers they'd be getting younger, defensive minded players in exchange for Lou and Moz so yes I'd absolutely do it.

Jody, you say it's a bad trade for both teams.  How is swapping Moz and Lou for Shump and TT a bad move for the Lakers looking beyond this season?

Cleveland gets their secondary scorer and a guy who can create his own shot.  Mozgov is familiar with playing there and how to fit in with the LeBron and the Cavs.

PER says it's a win for Cleveland.
