Craig Sager, the legendary sideline reporter and NBA announcer whose years-long battle with acute myeloid leukemia inspired countless fans and basketball lovers, died Thursday. He was 65.

“Craig Sager was a beloved member of the Turner family for more than three decades and he has been a true inspiration to us all,” Turner President David Levy wrote in a network statement. “There will never be another Craig Sager. His incredible talent, tireless work ethic and commitment to his craft took him all over the world covering sports.

His Quick Wits and Stand Out suits will be missed. Epic Sager and Popovich battles. He fought a long battle, God Bless the man and his loved ones. R.I.P Mr Sager.. Never Forgotten

I got to meet Craig in Minneapolis before Game 5 of the 2004 NBA Western Conference Finals.

I was standing on a bridge over looking the Mississippi River and he jogged up the steps with 2 of his children.

He stopped and talked for a bit. Asked me why I liked the Lakers, etc.

He was friendly, and took a picture with me. We still have the framed photo in our house.

He really defined what it meant to be a sideline reporter. Really sorry to see him go.

Honestly, his fight while staying public and helping raise awareness was the kind of courage most of us wonder if we could come close to finding in the same sad circumstance.

He lived pretty fully and mostly on his own terms while going out.

Never much cared for his shtick or his contributions before his diagnosis, but after it was only respect and awe from me

Praying for  1. Some Cohesion (Ill fitting parts with young bucks, new guys, and those playing for next contracts may muck things up all season) 2. Better Coaching, No More Tanking (Last season was more of the latter but not sure how much of the former we can count on. Walton with something to prove this season as much as any Laker player) 3. Rookie Watch (Hoping Lonzo outshines his daddy (ROTY??), and Kuzma finds minutes and makes a push for all rook 2nd team)

READY FOR SEASON!!!
