Laker1o1 you do realize Byron is not coaching the Lakers anymore so it would be something for him to garner any award. Go Luke! Go Lakers! I'd rather have the pick but sooner or later we have to give it up. Not being pessimistic but I always look at who might be coming out.

Win 2 playoff games or the 3rd pick in the lottery , which would you prefer?

Based on the play of the Laker's 5 game season, I don't think they even come close to sniffing the 3rd pick.

Of course the former !

It means the team is improving. Lakers already been rewarded with lottery picks in the last 3 seasons.

I would love for us to win two games against the Warriors or Spurs, but in the real world, that's not going to happen.

Best-case scenario (within what is reaonable) we win upwards of 35 games, yet still manage to keep our pick.

I dont see it.

GS, SA, OKC, LAC, Utah, Mem, Hou and Portland are all significantly better than the Lakers and i dont see that changing any time soon.

However, we have looked pretty good so far and a lot of the other teams in the west look like crap.

2 playoff games!!! I will take that for this team any day. If we are able to make that happen with this young team then it means we can be contenders in the next 2 seasons.

dood... forget the playoffs... more like... championship.

Yes, the Lakers are likely to make the playoffs.

The majority of the fans here think we would only make a gradual improvement over last season, underestimating how bad Byron Scott truly was and how it masked the talent that we have on this team, which, is better than every NBA team except: Warriors, Spurs, Raptors, Cavs.

And we have better talent 1-12 than OKC, Clippers, Blazers, we just would have difficulty against those teams in a 7-game series right now. But only at the moment.

I don't like to overreact but we've been competing....

We've got a squad it seems.

Uh no. Offer the Thunder 6 of our players for Westbrook and they'll say no.

Yes

Luke is possibly one of the all time great coaches in the making, given his acumen and pedigree he at least has that potential.

Russell and Ingram are young but still have enough to contribute.
Randle, Clarkson and Nance are still developing and Luke is putting all them in positions to be comfortable and effective.
Lou and Nick are included and as a result are being hard workers on D and unselfish on O.
Nick is OUR Klay, which is a role he can play. Nick has a bad reputation for good reason but he came in as a highly touted prospect at USC.
Lou is OUR Isaiah Thomas (via Cs not Pistons) or Jamal Crawford, an effective closer particularly playing off other ball handlers who can hit him while in stride.
Lou is in his prime and he gets buckets.
Mosgov and Deng add defensive and offensive consistent play

In my ultimate optimistic dream, the Lakers would make the Playoffs and knock the Clippers out in the first round. Oh boy...
