Meh.  Really, the trailer is all about the great Nine Inch Nails cover by Johnny Cash.  Other than that, not impressed.  Standard trailer editing.  The villain they chose in this movie, Donald Pierce and the Reavers is definitely a weak choice.

Based on the other crap Wolverine movies, this has a long way to go to make up for the other bland films in this series.

yea, it really is a shame that marvel can't make x-men movies...the x-men were always my favorite comic characters growing up, and while i did really enjoy first class, and days of future past, the majority of any x-men related movies have not been good over the years

still looking forward to see what they do with this movie, and maybe my lowered expectations based on history will help enjoy this one for what it is, but we'll see

X-23.. Wolverines little clone. 2 claws versus 3 out of her knuckles and one on her feet.

few trailers got missed here i think, but going to see this tonight.  somewhere along the way a group of my friends and i started a tradition of seeing all comic book (and now star wars) related movies opening night...just kind of happened, been doing it for years, and they're only getting better and more frequent...its great

Excellent movie.

Now if they made the X-Men movies with that tone maybe they all wouldn't have been so frickin' terrible.

Loved it.

Yeah, and X-2 after that, followed by Apocalypse.   I have a soft spot for The Wolverine and the first X-Men movie as well.  X-3 we don't talk about.. and I'll only talk about the first half of Origins: Wolverine  :D

Wouldn't mind seeing the girl that played X-23 appear in a X-Force movie in the next 2-3 years when she'll be 16 and likely be the lead.  She was about as perfect a Laura as you could ever find.

I'd say easily the 2nd or 3rd best comic book movie of all time. Probably 2nd

The dark knight
Logan
Batman begins
Guardians of the galaxy
Xmen days of future past
Spider-Man 2
Winter soldier
X-2
Avengers
First class

Off the top of my head. But this is a perfect example of a comic book adaptation. Taking characters from source material, no chaining yourself to that source material, creating a human story centered around those characters

The r rating helped quite a bit. Movie felt unrestricted and free. Felt like they could do whatever they wanted. And they did. There are some revelations about certain characters that are thematically darker than anything ever done in a comic book film. Genuinely powerful.

This was a comic book movie that has been needed for about 8 years now since TDK finally showed what comic book movies can be. TDK showed that you can take something like a cop drama/gangster film and layer a comic book on top of it

It was Christopher nolans genius. Taking another genre all together and layering a comic book movie on top. First of its kind. Until then even the highest quality comic book films were still comic book films.

Since then we've had a couple follow suit. Guardians was a sci fi epic layered with a comic book. And winter soldier was a spy movie

But this was the first since the dark knight to break new ground. It's a family drama at its core. But it also plays with something only touched on before. Shane black tried this actually with iron man 3 and didn't succeed. But it's that there's a price to being a superhero. What this movie did was wear that price on its characters backs. You felt it from the opening of the film. The movie had actual weight. It was a fleshed out story with a beginning middle and end

This is what a real film in the comic book movie genre looks like. DC/ WB should take note. Give an accomplished director and writer freedom and he will give you something special.

This movie is the display of how shared universes have hurt the genre. Because TDK and Logan only had to be within their own world of the film. Sure there's call backs to previous movies in both those films. But at the end of the day they are independent of other films. And that gives stakes to the story.

The performances were incredible. You could tell from the get go that Jackman and Stewart knew what this movie was. That they had become these characters over time and give their understanding of who these two characters are allowed the story's weight rest right on their shoulders. They were powerful. Daphne keen was out of this world. Best child I've seen since Jacob tremblay. And Boyd Holbrook is a star. Guy was awesome.

I'd say this film was a 8.5-9/10. Really spectacular stuff tbh. Special film that won't change the comic book movie genre but reminds audiences what it can be and what it should be.
