Basically hes upping this year's salary to this year's max, extending into the 17-18 season and will have a player option for 18-19.  He'll be in the 2018 FA class with PG and Boogie

An OKC writer tweeted this earlier today, but I wasn't buying his credibility.

This is the smart move for Russell. There's very few teams who can accommodate him this summer when you consider money + fit + winning, and I think OKC is still in the playoff picture and they have the assets to swing some sort of deal.

This also positions OKC to be among the favs for Blake next summer. I'm a strong believer that they can rebound from KD soon (obviously they won't find a player like him). Presti is a smart GM.

Sources: Russell Westbrook is flying to Oklahoma City on Thursday morning, planning to sign a three-year, $85M-plus contract renegotiation.

Happy to hear oddly enough.

Westbrook is my favorite player in the league and yeah if the Lakers had any sort of a chance to sign him next summer I'd want us to do that because you'd be crazy not to try but there is a part of me that is concerned with how his game ages (which may have nothing to do with this contract), and I'd like to see more of a team oriented offense like the Warriors for our own team.

Either way I wonder if the Christmas game will be OKC Warriors or the expected Warriors Cavs game.

I'd guess Warriors Cavs but I'd like to see Westbrook wreak havoc against the Warriors on Christmas lol.

I wouldn't have passed on Westbrook, but integrating him into this current roster definitely would've created a challenge. I think he has a lot of good basketball left in him, and it's time for him to consider fine-tuning his skills so he can play into his 30's.

It's likely going to be Warriors @ Cavs for Christmas. Can't find the source to back this up, but Silver wants to start a new tradition of a Christmas Day finals rematch, with the winner getting HCA. Think it was after LeBron complained about always being on the road for Christmas.

Hoping for Thunder/Warriors opening night. OKC or Oakland, idc, it's going to be crazy.

Good move for both Westbrook and the Thunder - if it goes through, of course.

I think OKC has something nice going for them with Westbrook, Oladipo and Adams who really are guys that the fan base would love and who all play a similar style of basketball. They do need shooting, but i'm not sure if anyone can match up with that team athletically.

Seems like Westbrook and Harden share a similar outlook on their profession. Good for them.

I suppose this is true.

The other thing is they were 1 game away.

Now they're 3 players away.

Did RW get a no trade clause?

Praying for  1. Some Cohesion (Ill fitting parts with young bucks, new guys, and those playing for next contracts may muck things up all season) 2. Better Coaching, No More Tanking (Last season was more of the latter but not sure how much of the former we can count on. Walton with something to prove this season as much as any Laker player) 3. Rookie Watch (Hoping Lonzo outshines his daddy (ROTY??), and Kuzma finds minutes and makes a push for all rook 2nd team)

READY FOR SEASON!!!

When KD was out a season or twonago... he put up some crazy numbers. Now he is the man. Good for him to shut the sources and rumor starters up. Re up on his contract 1 month after KD left.

Figured Westbrook would do this. He just gives off that vibe I'm top dog in charge and plan on making players go to him rather than the other way around.

Isn't he every year?

Harden and WB both staying put is best for the NBA too.  I know its easy to get down on Harden but he's still a top level player that you can build a solid playoff team with.

Don't know if you do Fantasy but it's going to be interesting who goes #1 and #2 at least in my league. Those are for sure the top 2 guys.

I'm excited to watch Harden in a D'Antoni offense. Should be absolutely nuts.
