Cool.

I like that it's only 8 episodes.

Pretty fun show.  The kids in it are great.  However, like most monster movies it crumbles a bit in the third act.  The last two episodes flounder quite a bit.   And I did not like the ending of it.

The monster being CG was a big disappointment as well.  They would've been better served to never give a full look at it, keep it mysterious and in the shadows.

8 episodes did make it wrap up quickly, also I wish this was just 1 story and we get different perspectives soon

With the traction this thing is getting they'll have to make another season.

I'm hoping for a second season.  Since she was 11, I'd love to see what happened to 1-10.

It was entertaining, acting was good. I'd rather not see another season with the same cast. Going back to the same place and characters would feel redundant. Overall I feel it's on the over hyped side.

Agreed.

Write a whole new script with a different setting.  Use some of the same actors, if you like, but don't go back there.

What I think I enjoyed about it the most was the unapologetic way they stole from so many 80's movies (Poltergeist, ET, Fire Starter, etc.)

I also enjoy period pieces more and more as the writers seem to recognize that the current information age (cell phone, internet, etc.) takes away from a lot of the fun.   You could set this show in 2016, if you want, but we know that kids behave and interact differently today and it would be a little more difficult to get the audience to buy into some of the stuff that goes on.

I just finished it. This was a masterpiece. When I watched the trailer, I didn't think I would enjoy the show as much as the reviews it got. After watching all the 8 episodes, I can see why.

The characterization is amazing. There's almost no filler crap that makes most shows run into more episodes per season than it needs to be. And I love how each piece was part of the larger puzzle.

I think for season 2, they're definitely going to be continuing with this cast of characters. There's still more to be told.
