After five NBA titles, two NBA MVP awards, 15 All-Star appearances and a spot on many lists as the greatest power forward of all time, San Antonio Spurs star Tim Duncan is calling it a career.

Best part about this announcement is Timmy and Kobe going to the HOF same enshrinement.

Congrats Timmy. Amazing career and all class through good times and bad.

One of the most unselfish and humble players to ever play the game despite being arguably the greatest PF of all time. Much respect to Duncan.

Major respect to Tim Duncan.. I always hated the Spurs because i felt that they were so boring to me... Then i found out by just watching them, they were and are a well ran franchise that works like a well oiled machine.

Tim Duncan has been a class act since i have watched him at Wake Forest. Soft and well spoken class act.

My second favorite player of all time. Guy was incredible. He just played the game so well. Could do everything on the court. I don't know how long it'll be until we see a big man like him who's elite at everything but jump shooting.

He was a champion in every way.

League really undergoing something of a seismic shift though some of it has been going on for a couple years.

But w timmy and Kobe gone.

Durant and Wade changing teams.

Even D Rose traded (made bigger w Pau and Noah leaving) and Rondo and Wade coming

That's 5 franchises that will have a very different look and feel now.

Read Miami went from 20-1 to 80-1

I'm thinking that he's announcing this late because he hadn't made up his mind yet during the season. Either way, they were contenders and even favorites for some, a farewell tour would've been a major distraction.

I knew he was retiring the moment he walked off the court in OKC and held his hand up on the way into the tunnel.

Kobe and Tim gone in one season. That's 10 of the last 20 rings and 14 of the 20 Finals. We won't see that for a long time. Was hoping that PP and KG would call it quits also considering they're done. Would be memorable to see them all go out at once and into the HOF in the same season.

Farewell, TD.  Used to hate him in the early 2000s, because his game is boring to watch, but so hard to beat.  But as the time goes i begin to appreciate his game and his manners on court.  Definitely a noble opponent and best sportsman i seen in NBA.  HOF is waiting for him.

He's in my top 7-8 all time and was the biggest foil to the Lakers this era. I think all Laker fans have a special appreciation for him just out of competitive respect. Dude swept us in '99 and dropped 37 and 16 on our homecourt to stop our dynasty, obviously we got him back our fair share of times but he was the only constant true rival of the Lakers this era. GOATS of our era are officially gone
