Funny how they did this move at ~6 am LA time. Mitch and Jim signed him when everyone's asleep on a Saturday morning and ran for their lives

My issue w Deng is the duration, 4 years??????

Solid vet, great team mate, versatile, good defender... but 4 years?

Welcome to LA Deng!

I'm hoping for a team option on the Moz deal. I highly doubt for one here. You just don't get Deng without the guaranteed years.

Hopefully he remains motivated and in shape over the years.

This really is the FO trying to get their Livingston/Iggy type player and rejuvenate his career under a new system.

I think Horford is only like 15/7.

So similar production.

Plus Deng can spell JR and Ingram.

Not the worst. Beggars cant be choosers.

Praying for  1. Youngsters Ballin (Didn't really happen on a consistent basis at all) 2. Miracle Trade (Also didn't happen. And we traded our best player for chump change) 3. Kick Ass Rooks (Zubac exceeded, Ingram tried but disappointed overall)

READY FOR SEASON TO BE OVER!!!

The CONS: his age (past his prime) & the duration of the contract.

The PROS: solid team mate, solid veteran leader, versatile, good defender and consistent.

The question: Does this mean Deng is our starting SF or PF? I cant see a veteran like Deng signing on for 4 years at 18M per and not starting...

Yeah I'm with you guys.

The years is a bit long. I'm hoping we have some team options on the end of them.

In four years we will have an all-star PG, SG, and SF! I'm not worried about who our role players are and how much they are getting paid at that point.

Plus, what will the cap be in four years?

Yeah it's a valid point.

I like Deng a lot, it's just a long time is all.

At the time same time though beggars can't be choosers. These guys know we're rebuilding and they aren't going to just accept 2 year deals.

You were just cursing a min ago then now a solid pick up? It is what it is man. Your opinion against the lakers FO's decision. Face the reality that we are rebuilding this from the ground up. Its not the 2000 lakers anymore.

yeah because i overthought my perspective

oh how the mighty have fallen...thought things would be looking up for us with kobes retirement freeing up money...but these contacts are not looking good. all wet can really hope for now is for luke and our young core to impress over the next free years to draw future free agents

Kinda feel some here are missing stuff.

FA is only 1 1/2 days old and Lakers have already made 3 major moves

-Clarkson

-Mosgov

-Deng

If we stop focusing on dollars (and i think we need to as the contracts we're handing out isn't keeping other more attractive FA's from signing here, its where we are competitively) we can field a team with some savvy productive vets to keep the kids in check and help them as they become our foundation.

Money has to go somewhere

We still have 2 moves left in my estimation

He's a 4 at this point in his career...

I don't know how to feel about this one...I'd have rather spent 24M/y on Wade for 3 years...

Oh well...it's done now.

Was just posting in the roster thread.

Deng is interesting for us because he can play 3 or 4.

He gives us the ability to run a lot of different lineups.

Honestly it's a good signing. He's 31. By the end of this deal he's gonna be 35 possibly 34 if there's a team option. He's a veteran who plays the right way and views the game the right way. I'm interested if he's gonna start of come off the bench
