Luol Deng will sign a four-year, $72 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. The news was reported by Shams Charania of the Vertical.

http://www.sportando...ith-lakers.html

pretty steep, but at least they know what they're getting, I feel like a two year deal would've been more reasonable...

It's not the money that's the issue, or even the players, it's the length of the contract for those players with certain conditions and/or limitations.

Moz had a failed surgery.  Nobody knows if he'll recover 100%.  From what we know in the playoffs, he hasn't...yet, we give him 4 years.

Deng is 31-32 years old, out of his prime already due to injuries...and we give him 4 years.

Disappointing.

No matter what our FO do at this time, these fake laker fans will never be happy. It seems like they only come to this forum to complain and whine. If you look, Deng actually has/had a better stat than Randle last year. Is he on the end of his career? Yes. He's still a good veteran that can come in and give you 12-15pts per game easy.

Praying for  1. Some Cohesion (Ill fitting parts with young bucks, new guys, and those playing for next contracts may muck things up all season) 2. Better Coaching, No More Tanking (Last season was more of the latter but not sure how much of the former we can count on. Walton with something to prove this season as much as any Laker player) 3. Rookie Watch (Hoping Lonzo outshines his daddy (ROTY??), and Kuzma finds minutes and makes a push for all rook 2nd team)

READY FOR SEASON!!!

The only thing going for us with the Mozgov move was that we still had room to pay two more guys
E
He did play 70+ games for the last two seasons, but cmon man he's 31

Now it just seems like the FO is too predictable. I'd rather have them take a risk on a younger/prime player than over pay two 30 year olds

thats what i mean

like why are we signing those old veterans who already passed their prime and got too much injured?

lets invest into youth and make it grow more...

Moz is a really [expletive]ty Bogut and Deng is a really [expletive]ty Iggy

If Luke comes out and says he was heavily involved in these decisions the fan base is likely to have a complete 180 on him

Lets see who else though.

I do want guys that can play and have had something to play for.

Whether we get Deng's best effort on this team at this time is another question

Otherwise...Solid Pick Up. One thing that Lakers need is some quality vets.

I hope he Will prove to be a great mentor for Ingram.

BTW don't crib over these contracts, get used to them. It's gonna be crazier next season with another cap bump.

Heat fans are actually upset that we took him

It's obvious the FO wants to surround the youngins with professional guys and guys that are a pleasure to be around.

Here you go GCMD, a guy that'll start over Randle. Deng played minutes at the 4 when Bosh went out. Deng/Moz might actually be good defensively. Not great or elite obviously, but they might be able to bang around

^ Or thought of another way...Deng getting Evan Turner money

So in Miami-no JJ, No Deng, Bosh the biggest health risk in the league right now, D wade miffed and MAY be divorcing them as well?

Compete cluster

The lentgh is crazy. Maybe it's the CBA... wild guess. The Lakers stated that they wanted veteran leadership for the kids, Deng is just that. An ex Duke player, with a little tie there to Ingram. Looking to see if the now add a veteran PG

I won't crap on this move, again shocker You can't deny his numbers though. 12 pts 6 rebs ppg.

Before everybody take a swan dive off mount Olympus, think...

Deng, Ingram and Brown
Clarkson, Williams

No room for NY

You were just cursing a min ago then now a solid pick up? It is what it is man. Your opinion against the lakers FO's decision. Face the reality that we are rebuilding this from the ground up. Its not the 2000 lakers anymore.

As said above, the money isn't the issue. It's the years. But I guess that's how you get a guy like Deng away from a playoff team.

So how much room do we have left?

One more guy for big money? I'm assuming a big man unless we're trying to go small for 38/48 minutes
