Knicks and Bulls are in advanced talks on a deal to send Derrick Rose to New York, sources tell @ShamsCharania and me.

The Bulls are sending Derrick Rose, Justin Holiday and a 2017 2nd-round pick for Robin Lopez, Jerian Grant and Jose Calderon, per source.

Wow.

I don't even know what to think.

That sounds solid for the Bulls?

Pretty neutral trade for both teams in my eye...

Bulls get an insurance big man just incase Noah and Gasol leave and move on from the Rose era all while having a bit of extra money (8 or so million) to spend in free agency while the Knicks get a known point guard.  Who knows, Rose may be able to revive his career if healthy.

Whoa...Rose/Melo duo? Interesting...

At least the East is getting somewhat better.

Wow, two major deals already. Odd trade though -- doesn't seem like a trade the Bulls had to make. Especially when you factor in they threw a 2017 2nd round pick too.

They probably don't see Rose being able to play 60+ games consistently and/or are planning to full on retool/rebuild.

Good gamble for the Knicks. Getting Rose is like getting the lottery pick they don't have - high risk, high reward.

Good on the Bulls too to finally move on. I'm sure the fans are upset it couldn't work out with the former MVP and hometown boy, but it's fine, they're still holding onto one of the best two way guards in the game in Butler.

No stars going back to Chicago.  Even if this doesn't work out for Knicks, they didn't give up anything that makes you go *gulp*.

Yea this was a no brainier for the knicks. i mean it might cause some cap issues but I believe he is on his last year. I don't think it will help much because he is so damn injury prone but we will see.

Butler's team now 100%.  No more fan divide or questions about them coexisting.  I don't think Lopez is a bad haul considering Rose's trade value.  I don't blame the Bulls for wanting to get something for him considering they're about to lose Noah and Gasol for nothing.

Source close to Rose tells me he's excited about playing for Knicks. "His 1st choice was New York (if traded). He wants the spotlight.''

The Bulls traded D.Rose!?wooow

The combination of the 3 Knicks players is almost the same exact amount as Rose and Holiday.  The Bulls won't have an extra 8 million to spend in free agency.

Do the Knicks have enough cap for Dwight? If yes, that's where he's going. If healthy, the Knicks finally become a playoff team and possibly a contender if Rose and Dwight and Melo return to close to prime form.

The Knicks actually have enough cap space to give Dwight a 10 year+ veteran max starting at 30-31M a year.  But they'll have no starting SG or bench haha

Jerian Grant to the Bulls as their starting 1? I can see it.

Works for both teams.  Now it's up to Rose to play at a high level and make Chicago regret picking Butler over him.

"Bryant had come to rage against the idea that Howard's clownish disposition could overtake the locker room, the Lakers' culture, and had warned Howard that he would never, ever let it happen."
