2015-2016 Lakers Roster

PG: D'Angelo Russell / Marcelo Huertas

SG: Jordan Clarkson / Lou Williams

SF: Kobe Bryant / Nick Young / Anthony Brown / Metta World Peace

PF: Julius Randle / Ryan Kelly / Larry Nance Jr.

C: Roy Hibbert / Brandon Bass / Tarik Black / Robert Sacre

HC: Byron Scott

Since 2015-2016 FA offseason started, I feel it's time to get a fresh new thread for the new roster.

The time for what? Missing out on free agents?

Well this is going to be painful again...hopefully the rooks can stay healthy and Kobe can make his last season one to remember. Wish we had a 2016 first round draft pick...

At least we got the rookies to look forward too.

Now we got to PRAY the rookies and young player turn out good to attract FAs.

We don't have our draft picks for the next 2 years.

Fielding lottery teams is useless. We need to add talent (doesn't have to be all-star level) ASAP

With this roster looks as if the Lakers will be at the bottom of the standings once again competing for the worst record in the league coz we ain't got the combination of vets to blend in with the youths on this roster...sad. :sorry:

Aren't going to win a championship or compete next year regardless who we signed. Our youth has to grow and mature and play well. When free agents see us as an up and coming team they will sign with us. Until then what free agent would want to be in a rebuilding situation?

Basketball season needs to be shorter...like 40 games shorter.

Pau Gasol is GONE

Crazy front court prediction:

PF: Randle/Kelly/Nance

C: Ed Davis/Sacre/Upshaw

...

fo real do, this roster would be fun:

Russell/Clarkson

Kobe/Young

Harris/Brown

Randle/Kelly/Nance

Davis/Sacre/Upshaw

A couple minimum vets... have at it boys. You've got a few years to hash it out.

Man I would've loved for us to grab Batum on his last year. I know it was unlikely with what Charlotte had to give up but the team wouldn't look too bad with a competent 3.

Roster
Kobe Bryant - $25,000,000
Roy Hibbert - $17,841,136 (w/ 15% Trade Kicker)
Nick Young - $5,219,169
D'Angelo Russell - $4,252,600 (Cap Hold)
Julius Randle - $3,132,240
Ryan Kelly - $1,724,250
Robert Sacre - $981,348
Larry Nance Jr. - $963,000 (Cap Hold)
Jordan Clarkson - $845,059
Tarik Black - $845,059
Jabari Brown - $845,059
Anthony Brown - $525,093 (Min. Salary)

Total Salary: $62,174,013
Salary Cap: $69,100,000

Cap Space: $6,925,987

Depth Chart
C: Roy Hibbert I Tarik Black I Robert Sacre
PF: Julius Randle | Ryan Kelly | Larry Nance Jr.
SF: Nick Young | Anthony Brown
SG: Kobe Bryant | Jabari Brown
PG: D'Angelo Russell | Jordan Clarkson

We have about three additional assets to improve the roster as it is:

1. Almost $7m to sign and/or absorb contract

2. Mid-Level Exception: $5,464,000

3. Bi-Annual Exception: $2,139,000

The roster is already at 12. So we could realistically complete it to 15 with these 3 assets. I think we need to send one of the rookies to D-League for more playing time. And maybe Jabari Brown too.

So essentially they could throw 6-7m at Houston to challenge RFA for KJ McDaniels and the MLE at Lou Williams?

"Bryant had come to rage against the idea that Howard's clownish disposition could overtake the locker room, the Lakers' culture, and had warned Howard that he would never, ever let it happen."

I believe he even qualifies for a Poison Pill contract. We could get crazy there if we were to pursue him, but I haven't seen any rumours so far regarding McDaniels. But ideally a SF/PF, a SG/SF and backup PG is necessary to fill out this roster.

they should most definitely go after KJ McDaniels for that amount. We wont have the MLE since we would sign him using cap space, but we would have the room exception (like 2-3M) to throw at someone .

I want us to lock in Upshaw as well.

if KJ qualifies for Poison Pill we may want to look at that as an option if we're going to pursue him.  I guess it just depends if we want him as much.

The reason we may not is because he's a terrible shooter from 3.  He's athletic, slasher and tries on defense.  But he shoots 28% from three.    So if the Lakers made that move for him they'd obviously feel his jumpshot was fixable.

If they landed KJ I'd assume he'd eventually be inserted to start due to his defensive potential.

That would effectively make the lineup..

D'angelo Russell

Kobe Bryant
KJ McDaniels
Julius Randle

Roy Hibbert

There's your essential modern lineup.  The scoring from the 1 and the 2, the defense from the 3 and the 5, and a talented 4.

My only worry would be Kobe and Russell having to shoulder such offensive load early on from the get go.  Our defense would potentially be tons better though,  And the bench would be solid

Jordan Clarkson

Nick Young
Anthony Brown
Ryan Kelly / Larry Nance Jr

Tarik Black / Robert Upshaw / Robert Sacre
