Really really solid player. I'd love to have him as a second option, as I'm not 100% sure he can carry a team yet by himself. I don't think he leaves Chicago barring a major collapse and falling out between him and the FO, but weirder things have happened. More often than not though, a huge payday trumps loyalty in the NBA today.

Only reason I can see is that they wont pay what we will.I'm for this but don't see why he leaves Chicago.

He's not going anywhere...Bulls will offer him the max even if that means slightly going over the luxury cap.

While it's true that Jerry Reinsdorf hates paying the luxury tax he'll make an exception in this case. Signing Jimmy Butler to a max contract and filling out the roster 10-13 with rookie and veteran minimum contracts would put the Bull's payroll next year in the $80-82 million range. Assuming the luxury tax threshold jumps another couple million you're talking about a 2 or 3 million dollar tax bill.

This is not a confirmed report based on any knowledge at all. Just some fans Wet dream I would assume. Cause if it were true, it would only show us all the pure stupidity of the current Laker front office people.

Pure stupidity? Have you watch him play this season and only going to get better..? Maybe not a max, but he's close to it.
He has a complete game.

Doubt Chicago lets him leave. It's one thing to be cheap on bench guys but they will trade Taj Gibson to clear up space well before they let their youngest and arguably best player walk at this point.

Sorry that wasn't my point to say Butler is not worth it. My point was it is stupid to even put any effort into offering a player a deal..whether it's a Max deal or not to a player who is restricted, and who you KNOW that his team is without any doubt going to match it. I mean it is the very definition of an exercise in futility. I mean if we are going to go after free agents, lets see the Lakers front office direct their energy into....Oh I don't know.....maybe players that they DO actually have a chance at!! And not the Jimmy Butler's of the world...for whom they have ZERO chance in ever Obtaining.
That was my point sir. Not that Butler isn't worthy.

This is just as realistic as getting Knight off the Bucks. Team likes him=He stays.

I'd take him in a heartbeat. That guy might become one of the league's best guards.
Arguably the greatest franchise ever

Not exactly. PGs are attainable b/c unless you're a budding star you aren't worth a max and probably aren't getting one. However a restricted guy like Knight would require a huge deal to pry him away from the Bucks and at a dollar amount that may not be worth it. Same goes for Reggie Jackson. I do however think that if LA really wants a PG they should consider it now since the cap is going to rise. 14-15M a year may be a steal in 2 years.

Get Dragic love the kid playing ball or go for Love and Gasol not on the RFA players.
Posted January 20, 2015 - 11:09 AM
Jimmy Butler in ...
November: 21.9 ppg, 50% FG, 8.8 FTA/gm
December: 21.5 ppg, 47% FG, 7.4 FTA/gm
January: 17.0 ppg, 40% FG, 5.8 FTA/gm
Definately would take him in a heartbeat but like you guys said, Bulls love him and will max him no matter what.

Hasnt Mitch said they likely wont go after RFA's?
Think i'd rather have Butler, then Knight, if they do.
Id be happy with Dragic though and he's an easier get without the brutal time lag RFA would take
Excited for 1. Lebron! (Still love me some Kobe, but damn this guy is amazing) 2. Another big get (Whether in FA or in a trade we need some attractions and closers) 3. Young Guys making big jump (Assuming we have anyone left after more necessary moves either genius ones or in desperation).
READY FOR SEASON!!!
