Sacramento has fired coach Mike Malone, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Assistant coach Ty Corbin will take over as interim head coach, league source tells Yahoo Sports.

Well this makes no sense at all. Typical Sacramento.

Shocking.

I'm guessing it is not related to the results. Cousins has been out for god knows how many games. Without him SAC goes nowhere.

I smell tank. But a very stupid one.

The Reason:

Despite star DeMarcus Cousins missing past nine games, Malone didn't meet win-loss expectations of ownership, sources tell Yahoo.

Michael Malone is being told he's been fired as we speak, I'm told. Kings parting ways w/ him, it seems, because of expectations not met.

No incident, from what I'm told, just no patience for a group that was doing good things but had lost its centerpiece (Cousins)since Nov. 26

What expectations? They've sucked for the last decade and were starting to do well until Cousins went down with an illness. You can't go far when your best player is injured. This just reeks of a new owner trying to make bold decisions without really knowing what he's doing. Kind of like drafting Stauskas.

Um that was stupid...

They're losing cause they're missing Cousins. Way to screw up the entire chemistry.

Man the kings were finally looking like a decent team. Sac always finds a way to [expletive] things up though.

He's actually a pretty solid defensive coach, don't know why they'd do this.

It may be surprising that Kings fired their coach while their top player has been sick, but anyone who has watched them knows why he is gone

Fair to wonder how kings would be playing for George Karl. Athletes. Depth. Potential for their sf's to play pf and go really fast.

Scott should bring him in as assistant. Would be a good solid move imo.

Has to be something that happened in house, like a mark jackson thing. There's no way they can hold that expectation ish over him

Really dumb.

But Byron, please hire him. We need an X's and O's coach badly.

Any chance Byron would get him?  Who's our defense assistant now?

Sources confirm George Karl is a target/future head coaching candidate of the Kings. Not clear yet if he’s interested or not.

Regarding #SacKings, George Karl telling me on @SiriusXMNBA "I'm humbled. If they're interested in me, I'm interested in them" #NBA

He was the first coach they've had that actually was able to reach Demarcus Cousins.

Seems like a strange move to me.
