I've been playing inverted since I was a kid because I used to be into flight simulator games. I also just realized when I used to skateboard I would ride "Goofy". Not sure if those 2 go hand in hand.

It gets really annoying whenever someone hands me the controller in a shooter because I ALWAYS have to pause the game and change the controls to inverted, same for the people I hand the controller too.

What about you guys?

P.S. Did a search and could not find this topic having been made already.

Only time I played inverted was on COD 2 and not sure why. I think playing as a kid it asked early and I just clicked whatever and kept it for the full game. After playing over some friends houses on cod and they played normal I just reverted to that since it seemed more normal. Have been playing as that ever since.

I wonder if that's something engraved into you (like being left handed) or just a habit you've picked up. Interesting.

Would be interesting to know. Tried Googling it but kind of hard to find a study on it or anything like that.

There was one point where I switched to Normal during Halo 1 and it just felt right but I inevitably went back to inverted. Inverted makes sense to me because if you put a joystick on your head and pulled back you would be looking up. If you pushed the joystick on top of your head forward you would be looking down.

That's just what feels natural to me.

How about in sports games though? Are you pulling the stick in the opposite direction in those?

Is there a specific sports game you're referring to where you get to move the camera constantly? Nothing comes to mind to me except possibly Madden when you're the QB? But even that I don't remember if you get to move the camera frame.

Unless you meant inverted on the X-axis. I only do Inverted on the Y-Axis.

I start with either one and I usually get used to it. But perhaps I prefer normal.

It also depends on the kind of controllers. When I use keyboard/mouse I play better with normal, but when I use the gamepad or joystick I could feel better playing inverted.

Flying games can easily be played inverted.

Flying -- inverted

Skateboarding -- normal

FPS -- normal (with highest sensitivity possible)

I remember I got used to inverted because of the N64, games like Turok and others I believe had inverted by default. Not 100% sure tho.

Took a while to get used to normal when I got a PS2.

I use normal all the time now though.

i also skated "goofy" and play shooters inverted

the first shooter i ever played had inverted as the default scheme, so thats probably why i prefer it

i cant play shooters, or any first person game "normal"

i even invert the camera on 3rd person games

Normal for FPS... I just don't understand how people play inverted... it just makes no sense... how do people press down to look up?

On flying games, inverted is normal.

I skated goofy.

(I remember going back to goldeneye, and it was inverted, oh man, was that hard to get used to.)

My logic on it anyways.

I never played inverted. I always thought people who played inverted are just hipster who wants to be different lol.  But to each their own.

I come to realized in life that what is weird to me can be normal to others. For example. I always thought it is weird that people go into a KFC, ordered fried chicken and remove all the skins. Like what is the point of eating fried chicken without the skin?  Like ordering cheese burger without the cheese.   But to each their own.  Inverted to me seems weird but I'm sure people who played inverted almost all their life think "normal" is weird.

I'm left handed as well and can't imagine getting accustomed to inverted either, but I don't think they are really related.
